Some positive news during the week, Minister Pippa Hackett, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine,
has launched a pilot scheme offering financial support to current forest owners who wish to replant their forest in a different way after felling.

For commercial forest 'Continuous Cover Forest' (CCF) stands out.

Another positive came from Europe "EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework" making progress on carbon farming and some forestry. Results are expected by 2026.

Pat Fennell planted his forest in 1991, 33 years ago. It was never thinned and is now ready for clear fell.

Some forest owners thin two or three times before clear fell, others try CCF.

"We will show the benefits of Pat's system when we visit the forest on Thursday, August 29," said Waterford Forestry Owners Group.

Meet in Durrow Greenway car park at 7pm for the forestry visit.
