Waterford Forest Owners Group visited the farm of Patrick Trihy recently, where they saw Patrick’s forest of 23-year-old conifers, which have been thinned twice.
The trees all straight and standing showed the importance of good plants on day one.
Item which were discussed included the cost of the roadway and turn table. All figures were available, and those gathered were shown good drain maintenance.
The foresters also learned “something new and interesting on the night” – how to use Google Chrome to identify trees and plants.
Ireland’s Woodlands Show takes place at the JFK Arboretum outside New Ross on Friday and Saturday, October 4-5, opening at 10am both days and closing at 3.30pm.
A Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine funded event, the show will demonstrate the benefits of planting trees, with 4,500 different species of trees in JFK Arboretum, a beautiful location.
