An Irish woman arrested at Heathrow Airport was detained after 3.5 kilos of cocaine were found in her baggage, it has been revealed.

The woman, who is from Quigley's Point in Co Donegal, was arrested at the London airport on November 7th.

The 49-year-old was later charged in connection with the alleged importation of class A drugs.

A value has not yet been put on the alleged drugs as police are awaiting forensic analysis.

A spokesperson for the National Crime Agency in Britain has confirmed that the accused woman will now appear at Isleworth Crown Court on Monday next.

A spokesperson confirmed “49-year-old XXXXXX from the Inishowen area of Co Donegal, Ireland will appear before Isleworth Crown Court on Monday, December 8th, charged with importing class A drugs.

"It follows the seizure of around 3.5 kilos of suspected class A drugs found in baggage at Heathrow on November 7th.

"Following the seizure by Border Force officers, the case was passed to NCA investigators, who interviewed and charged XXXXXXX.

"She appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates on November 8th, where she was initially remanded in custody, but was later bailed until her next court appearance.”
