Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Sunday, July 14, of Mrs. Wendy Coyne Rellis, late of Kilcohan Park, Waterford, and formerly of Ballybeg, Waterford. Predeceased by her loving father Raymond, she is survived by her loving partner Mark Coyne, sons Keith, Scott, Sean and Aaron, daughter Abbie, her mother Ann, sisters Sarah and Laura, brothers Philip and Kenneth, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Wendy will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass took place in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, Waterford, on Thursday, July 18, at 11.00am, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner, Waterford. Condolences are extended to Wendy's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Youth 2000 Summer Festival

Be Healed Retreat

The Be Healed Retreat runs from Friday, August 30, at 9am to Sunday, September 1, at 3.30pm, at Glencomeragh House, Kilsheelan, Co. Tipperary (E91H584). Led by Fr Patrick Cahill, there will be daily Mass, Benediction and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, themed talks, reflection time, prayer ministry, confessions and healing service on Saturday night with anointing of the sick blessing. Community Bingo

Bingo in aid of the Parkinson's Association Bingo will be held every Monday evening in aid of the Parkinson's Association in the Butler Community Centre. Eyes down at 7.45pm, €8 per book. All are welcome.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga takes place every Thursday from 11am to 12pm. 

Sometimes people with different abilities may feel there is a lack of choice when it comes to Yoga. Chair Yoga is inclusive to people of all abilities and will offer everyone the opportunity to take part and benefit from all Yoga has to offer €40 for 6 weeks. Whist Club

A Whist Club (card game) at the Butler Center, St. John's Park on Tuesday’s at 7.30pm. 

They would love to see all their old players and new players would be most welcome at €5 per person.

Shotokan Karate

Waterford Shotokan Karate beginners classes are taking place in Butler Community Centre, St John's Park, Waterford (X91 FEP4). 

Junior Foroige Club

Warriors Junior Foroige Club are looking for new members, boys and girls, aged 10 to 12 years. We meet in Butler Community Centre every Thursday night from 7pm to 8 pm. Foróige Club is a place for young people to hang out, meet new friends, get involved in activities and have a voice. Limited places available.

Waterford Central Library

Waterford Libraries are delighted to again bring a series of free Writing Workshops to the people of the Déise county in 2024. The programme runs from August to mid-December and will give participants an opportunity to attend courses in both Irish and English. 

The courses are free of charge, open to people over 18 years resident in the city or county, and application forms are available at library desks. The closing date for applications for all workshops is Friday, August 2. 

Home-grown Microgreens

A 'Growing Microgreens at Home' Workshop will take place in Central Library, Waterford on Friday, July 26, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Learn the basics of growing tasty microgreens in your own home; perfect for a sunny windowsill or any well-lit spot. The facilitator will be Aileen Drohan, Walton Institute (SETU). Book your free space by calling 051 849975.

Grow Your Own Food

Grow your own food with free spinach, French beans and Pea seeds when Waterford Libraries team up with GIY to encourage growing your own food. The free seeds will be available in 25 libraries across the South East and for more information log on to www.libraryleaf.ie 

The LEAF programme is about empowering communities to grow their own food as a vital climate action. It’s about sowing seeds of empathy and nurturing a culture of sustainable living, all while turning libraries into bustling hubs of food growing information.

Parent Hub

Are you a new mum or have you just had a baby? HSE Ireland has established a Post Natal hub for both mum and baby. This is a space for you and your baby to come to access supports from HSE midwives, paediatrician, lactation consultant, woman's health physio, perinatal mental health midwife, along with one of the most important things for a new mum, a connection to other new mums who have also welcomed a new arrival and may be looking to connect with others for support.

The sessions take place every Wednesday, from 9am to 11am, in the Brill Family Resource Centre. Drop in anytime between between those times or text or call Grace beforehand on 087 1819413.

Creative Writing

Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre in Waterford would love you to join us for our Creative Writing Programme which will begin on Thursday, September 12, for 10 weeks. The programme will take place from 11am to 1pm and will be free to attend. The programme will be funded by WWETB Adult & Community Education, facilitated by writer and musician, Derek Flynn. Community Art Project

Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre, Waterford has teamed up with Waterford City and County Council Creative Communities to create a mural with adults and children, aged 10 to 14 years. No experience is necessary and the project will be facilitated by Artist in Residence, Ruth. If you or your child wish to take part in this project please contact Anne on 051 306728.

Kids Summer Camp

Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre will be running its fourth Kids Summer Camp for July from July 22 to 25, for those aged 8 to 12 years.

The camp runs from 10am to 2pm and the cost is €45. For further information ring Anne on 051 306728.

Baking Classes

Registration is now open for forthcoming baking classes being run by Sacred Heart Family Resource. The classes are being funded by the WWETB Reach Fund. 

It will be an eight-week programme and more information can be had by contacting 051 306728.

Homework Club

The Shy Project, Waterford & South Tipperary Community Youth Service, are seeking volunteers (1 to 2 hours weekly commitment), to join their Homework Club. The club offers homework support for primary school boys on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. This is an opportunity to develop relationships with the younger generation in your community and make a positive impact on their lives. Wedding Congratulations

The Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, Waterford was the scene of the very pretty wedding on Wednesday, July 10,  of July 2024 of Miss Aoife Daly and Mr Craig Ennis.

It was a very special day for their beautiful daughters Croia and Bowie, to witness mammy getting their last name. Aoife is the daughter of Michael and June Daly and Craig is the son of Michael and Sally Anne Ennis. The marriage ceremony and Mass were celebrated by Fr Gerry Chesnutt. Following Mass, the happy couple were joined by family and friends in the Tower Hotel, Waterford, for their wedding reception. All would like to wish Aoife and Craig many long years of happiness, health and success.
