Waterford Walking Week 2026 Ready to get moving, meet new people, and enjoy the fresh Tramore air?

Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Thursday, March 26, of Victoria Nash, late of Eustace Way, Minaun, Cheekpoint, Waterford. 

Formerly of Saint Petersburg, Russia. Forever missed by all her loving family and friends. 

“She came from distant Russian snow. To where the Irish rivers flow, In Waterford she made her place, with quiet strength and gentle grace. 

"Her voice held echoes far away of colder skies and brighter days, yet here she warmed each heart she knew with kindness deep and spirit true. 

"Though now she rests beyond our sight, her love remains, a guiding light.” 

Victoria will be sadly missed by all her relatives, family and friends. 

The Requiem Mass took place on Monday, March 30, in St. Nicholas Church, Faithlegg, at 10am, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. 

Condolences are extended to Victoria's family, relatives and friends. 

May she rest in peace. 

Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Friday, March 27 of Mrs Mary O'Neill (née O'Brien), Waterford City, Waterford / New Ross, Wexford Late of Passage Road, Waterford, formerly of New Ross, Co. Wexford.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Donal, daughter Áine, her parents, sisters Kay, Eileen and Eithne, and her brother Fr Gerard O’Brien. 

She is survived by her loving sons Donal, Sean and Brian, grandchildren Shona, Tom, Clíodhna, Rachel, Katie and Jessica, great-grandchildren, sister Theresa (Tess), daughters-in-law Elaine and Frances, brother-in-law Joe, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Mary will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family and friends. 

Requiem Mass took place in St. Joseph and Benildus’ Church, Newtown, Waterford, on Tuesday, March 31, at 10:30am. 

Burial afterwards in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, New Ross, Co. Wexford. 

Condolences are extended to Mary's family, relatives and friends. 

May she rest in peace.

The death has sadly occurred on Saturday, March 28, of Mrs Mary Thompson (née Jacob), Waterford City, Waterford, late of Water Street, formerly of Dominic Place, Waterford. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Johnny, her sister Carmel, brothers Christy, Geoff, Pakey and Tony, nieces Beverly and Patsy. 

She is survived by her loving children, John, Susie, Linda, Caroline and Mandy. sadly missed by her seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sons-in-law Tom, Tony Davis and Justin, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Mary will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family and friends.

Burial afterwards to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner.

St Joseph & Benildus Church Volunteer Meals on Wheels Drivers 

Volunteer Meal-on Wheels drivers and relief drivers, can you spare an hour per week to deliver meals around the city, Monday to Friday, from about 11:15am to 12:15pm?

Central Library Clothes Swap

Refresh your wardrobe and find something new for you Europe Direct Waterford, Waterford Council's Climate Action Team and Waterford Libraries are coming together to organise a Clothes Swap on Wednesday, April 15, in Central Library, Lady Lane in Waterford City from 5pm – 6:30pm, with Clothes Drop Off from 11am onwards.

This is a free event, and all are welcome.

The Details - Bring up to five pieces of clean adult clothing (in good repair) to the library, between 11am and 5pm and swap them for a voucher for the same number of pieces. 

The swap opens from 5pm, where you can browse the donated pieces and find out more about mending and bringing new life to your clothes. 

The EU has a Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles to create a greener textiles sector. 

The aim is a major shift inside the industry and among consumers, creating a whole new sustainable ecosystem for textiles by the end of this decade. 

This event is also part of the Waterford Lifelong Learning Festival 2026.

Molly Keane Creative Writing Award 2026 

The Arts Office, Waterford City and County Council, by kind permission of the Keane family, is now inviting entries for a previously unpublished short story for this year’s Molly Keane Creative Writing Award.

Carbally Community Centre Martin Halley 5K Memorial Fun Run Run or walk with us on Friday, May 8, at Carbally Community Centre, Rathmoylan, Ballymacaw, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford X91 NW64. 

Registration is at 6pm. Starting time: Walkers 7pm – Runners: 7:30pm timed event. 

Entry fee €10 for runners, €5 for walkers, €15 for a Family. Children under 12 are free. 

The event will be followed by the presentation of the medals at the Carbally Community Centre. 

Tea and sandwiches will be available on the night. All proceeds will go towards further development of the Carbally Community Centre.

The Spinnaker presents a night with Penny Royal in aid of Carbally community centre on Saturday, April 11 doors open 7pm, DJ Peter till late, finger food and raffle on the night. Admission €12. Tickets available from committee members and in spinnaker, free bus back to town at end of night.
