Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Wednesday, July 24, of July Mr. Tony Freeman, Alta, Norway, late of The Square, St. John's Park, formerly of Poleberry and Dunmore East, Waterford. Predeceased by his loving parents Peter and Nancy, sisters Eve Marie and Cora Sue and his brother Paul, he is survived by his loving son Cillian, sisters Kay (Carberry) and Lorraine (Freeman), brother Robin, Cillian's sister Aisling and her children Liam, Euan and Croía, brothers-in-law Michael and Francis, sisters-in-law Maureen and Mary, his aunts Stella and Maura, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Tony will be sadly missed by all his family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Memorial Mass for Tony was held in The Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, on Saturday, August 24, at 6.30pm. Condolences are extended to Tony's family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

During a Sacred Heart Church Baptism celebration last week we welcomed Destiny Elizabeth Condron, Hallie May Dunphy and Arlo Tommy Walsh into our Christian Community through. SERFSN

The South East Regional Family Support Network's, Bereavement Group provides a safe space for family members who have experienced the death of a loved one because of problem substance use or related issues. The group is facilitated by two trained psychotherapists and will include respite and other opportunities that may be relevant. This is a free service specific to the South East Regional Family Support Network. It takes place on Tuesdays from 10.30am to 12noon in the Millennium Building, Church Road, Lisduggan, Waterford (X91 FN5V). Rail Timetable

Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) has a new timetable as of from Monday, August 26, with new services for Galway, Waterford, Wexford, Cobh and Midleton. Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga Chair Yoga will take place in the Butler Community Centre, Room 5, St. John’s Park, Waterford (X91 FEP4) from Monday, September 23, from 10am to 10.45am. The cost will be €8 so drop in and move with confidence, improve your flexibility, mobility, balance and co-ordination. The classes will be led by an experienced yoga and Pilates teacher. Whist Club

A Whist Club meets are Butler Community Centre on Tuesday’s at 7.30pm. They would love to see all their old players attending and new players would also be very welcome. The cost is €5 per person.

Solas Run and Walk for Life

The Solas Cancer Support Centre’s Run and Walk for Life returns to the streets of Waterford City on Sunday, October 13, and Dungarvan’s Greenway on Saturday, October 12. The 10K Run and Walk in Dungarvan will begin at 10am on Saturday, October 12, at Walton Park. The 10k Run and Walk on Sunday 13, in Waterford City, will begin at 10am on the quay. A new 4K family walk has been added to both Waterford and Dungarvan to encourage families to take part in tandem with the 10K routes. The popular virtual option will also be available and workplaces are being encouraged to once again #GoOrangeForSolas. Registration is open online at www.solascentre.ie. The registration fee is €25 per adult and €15 per child. This fee includes a t-shirt and an event medal, kindly sponsored by Eirgen Pharma.

Parents Plus Programme 

Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre will be running a free Parents Plus Programme for parents of children aged 0-7 years of age in October. The programme will begin on October 2, and will take place from 10am to 12.30pm, one morning a week. If you would like to reduce your stress as a parent and build your child's confidence, learning and positive behaviour, then why not come along to this programme. Parents Support Programme

Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre Waterford will be running a free support programme for parents of children experiencing anxiety on Friday, September 13. The programme will take one morning a week thereafter, from 9.30am to 11.30am. The programme will be facilitated by a Creative Arts Therapist in a confidential space. For more information or to register for your place please contact Elaine on 051 306728. Participants must be willing to commit to the 10 weeks of the programme.

Creative Writing

Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre Waterford would love you to join us for our Creative Writing Programme which will be starting on Thursday, September 12, for 10 weeks. The sessions will take place from 11am to 1pm. The programme is free to attend and is being funded by WWETB Adult & Community Education, facilitated by Derek Flynn. Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed for the Slice of Culture Festival, which is back this year bigger than ever. This fantastic event is a true celebration of the rich diversity and vibrant cultures that make our community unique and will take place on Saturday, September 7, from 11am to 7pm in Wyse Park, Waterford City. It will be a multicultural event and will be aimed at fostering the community spirit that exists locally.
