Local Notes: Tidy Towns news, a great market and lots of sport

A wide variety of fresh produce is always available at Stradbally Market
Congratulations to Christine King and Heather Finn, two winners of our Facebook Copper Coast Postcard competition which closed on May 31.
Thanks to everyone who entered with some amazing pictures of our beautiful coastline.
The three winning pictures will now be turned into postcards that will promote our unspoiled Copper Coast. Thanks to all our Facebook friends for judging this competition.
A reminder that we expect the Super Valu Tidy Towns judges in the coming days to pay us their first visit and look forward to putting our best foot forward in the national competition in our 42nd year involved.
Congratulations to Div 2 champions 2024, after a titanic battle against a very good Cappoquinn Naomh Brid side who stuck to the death to win on a scoreline of 2-10 to 3-06. Each player gave their all and did their club proud. The boys will now go on to represent Waterford in the John West Féile GAA Tournament in late June, at a Leinster venue.
In the U11 C Cup Semi-Final, Stradbally advanced to the final defeating Park Rangers by 5 goals to 2 in a very exciting game. Extra time was needed to separate the teams. Well done Park Rangers on winning the league and best of luck to our Stradbally lads in the Cup final.
The 66th Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage takes place from June 5 to 10, under the leadership of Rev Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan. We wish all our local pilgrims and our Parish Priest, Fr Edmond Cullinan a safe journey and a wonderful experience in Lourdes this week.
There were temperatures of 18 and 19 degrees at the Square in Stradbally for the weekly market recently.
The producers were trying to keep buns, jams and cakes out of the golden rays of June sunshine, which we had not seen for sometime.
The producers had stalls laden with fresh fruit, a variety of vegetables, oven fresh home baking, breads, scones, tarts, buns, apple juice, jams, marmalade, relish, cards, prints, memorial plaques, bedding plants, knitwear.
There were cups of tea or coffee and scones available at the Cove Bar while our XL Store was looking after all our needs and supplying the best ice cream on the Copper Coast.
Looking at the scene you could be anywhere in France.
You can purchase any of the above by calling Margaret on 087 6337215 just drop by and collect. These producers will be back again next Saturday from 10am to do it all again.
