Local Notes: Sympathies and community based drug awareness event

A drug awareness event will take place in County Waterford this month aimed at everyone in the community

Sympathies

The death occurred on January 2, of Frank Josey, Carrigahilla View, Stradbally, Predeceased by his parents Albert and Dorothy, and his brother Nicky, he is deeply mourned and sadly missed by his loving wife Madeleine, sisters Alison, Beryl, Mary and Jean, brother Graham, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, neighbours and friends. Frank was formerly employed with Guidant / Boston Scientific, Clonmel and was a devoted dog lover, with a particular fondness for pointers. A Service of Thanksgiving for Frank’s life took place on Tuesday, January 13th, in St. James’ Church of Ireland, Stradbally, followed by interment in Ballylaneen Cemetery.

Drug Awareness

Stradbally GAA Club will host a Drug Awareness Discussion on Thursday, January 29th, in the Stradbally GAA Social Centre, commencing at 6.30pm. The event aims to promote awareness, education, and open discussion around drug use and its impacts on individuals, families, and the wider community. Guest speakers on the night will include representatives from An Garda Síochána and Addiction Counsellor, George Henderson, who will share professional insights, practical information, and guidance. This important discussion will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more, ask questions, and engage in a supportive and informative environment. All members of the community are encouraged to attend.

Sympathies

The death has occurred of Thomas O’Keeffe, ‘Ocean View’, Knockrour, Stradbally, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18th, at University Hospital Waterford. He was predeceased by his wife Sheila, his parents John and Lena, and other members of the O’Keeffe family. Thomas' passing is deeply regretted by his loving brothers Michael and Anthony, sister-in-law Mary, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. He reposed at Drohan’s Funeral Home, Dungarvan, on Tuesday, January 20. His Funeral Mass took place on Wednesday morning in the Holy Cross Church, Stradbally, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
