Sliabh gCua Community Centre

It is with deep sadness that we mark the passing of our dear friend Seamie Skehan. Seamie had been involved with the Community Centre Committee for a number of years and was our current vice-chairman. Seamie was a man of action and could be relied upon to get any job done and if he couldn't do the job, he knew someone who could. It is hard to put into words the impact Seamie had on the community as a whole. He was an absolute powerhouse, always on hand to help out and always giving willingly of his time. He truly was one of life’s gentlemen. His work ethic, good humour and his community spirit are unparalleled. He will be sorely missed by us all. We offer our deepest condolences to Breda, Tara, Julie, Eithne, Jack, John, Lois, the extended family, neighbours and friends on such a heartbreaking loss. Leaba i measc na naomh go raibh aige ' There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone, the light remains'.

Symathies

We extend our sympathy to the Phelan family on the recent passing of John Phelan Sr., Yonkers, New York, and formerly of Graignagour, Ballymacarbry. John was a much-loved figure in the Waterford GAA community in New York. He was a man of great generosity and character, someone people could always turn to in times of need. Whether it was helping individuals and families find work and accommodation or supporting every fundraiser, dance and game in Gaelic Park, John was always present and willing to lend a hand. He played a vital role in supporting countless players, both past and present in New York, many of whom became dual players thanks to his tireless work with his beloved Rangers New York GAA. John is predeceased by his wife Sheila Phelan (née Flynn Ballyduff Upper), brothers Jim, Paddy and sister Nuala. We extend our sincere sympathy to his daughters Patricia and Gerry, sons John, Vinny and Thomas, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brother Tom Phelan (Dungarvan), sisters Ann Hughes (Cavan) and Bríd Power (Dublin), sister-in-laws and brother-In-laws, nephews and nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Funeral mass was in Saint Peter’s Church, Riverdale Ave, Yonkers, New York with interment at St.Mary’s Cemetery, Sprain Road, New York. There will be a month’s mind mass held in St. Helena’s Church, The Nire, on Sunday morning, November 2, at 11am. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam Dílis

Touraneena Runner’s Club

Week two of our Predict Your Time League which was generously sponsored by Dunne’s Bar and Tobin Haulage, was won by Rose Lonergan and the lucky dip winner was Noel Drohan. Well done to Rose and Tom. It was another great attendance last week. Clock countdown will start again at 7pm this Monday night. It’s a great 4K route suitable for walkers and runners. Don’t forget your Hi Vis vest and a torch.
