Local Notes: Rebel roots and bluegrass bash, cemetery masses and opening of playground

The numbers drawn in the most recent Sliabh gCua Lotto were 6,11 and 22. There were two lucky winners of the €3,500 jackpot, Donagh Condon and Mush Keane. Huge congratulations to both. As the jackpot was won, there was no draw for the five x €20 and the jackpot reverts to €200 for this Sunday night’s draw. Also don’t forget that the half yearly lotto tickets are due for renewal at the end of this month.
The Sliabh gCua Playground committee will be hosting the official opening of the newly erected playground on Saturday, July 6, at 1pm. Waterford Playful Streets will be in attendance with a wide variety of fun and games. There is free entry to this event and there will be food and refreshments available for purchase on the day. Come along, bring your family and together we can celebrate this momentous occasion.
Fourmilewater GAA Club will be hosting a ‘Fentons Rebel Roots and Bluegrass Bash’ on Saturday, July 13, from 4pm to 10.30pm. There will be something for everyone at this riverside open air concert which will include Jack Colbert, Rising Tide, The Cedartowns and Mad Mike.
Jack Colbert plays a unique blend of Irish folk and pub songs, Rising Tide is a dynamic two-piece band from County Waterford that specialise in a diverse array of music including Irish traditional, ballad, rebel songs and country music.
The Cedartowns blend influences of blues, folk and pop sensibilities creating a journey of emotive melodies, foot stomping tunes and sweet harmonies. The entrance fee will be €20 per person and tickets can also be purchased online from Eventbrite.ie

The following is a list of upcoming local cemetery masses and blessings: Fourmilewater - 7pm Mass on Wednesday, July 10, with blessing in church graveyard afterwards; Newcastle - 7pm Mass on Thursday, July 11, with blessing in the church graveyard afterwards and then in the new cemetery from 8pm; The Mass Rock - subject to weather conditions, on Saturday, July 13, Rosary at 12noon and Mass at 12.30pm.
Please note that from Monday, July 1, the bus will no longer be stopping at the community centre. The bus will now pick up and drop off on the roadside as indicated by the temporary signage that is in place.
