Local Notes: Last man standing, 'Songs of Hope', Valentine's Afternoon tea and more

Songs Of Hope

Following on from the great success of last year's Songs of Praise at Waterford Cathedral, we are delighted to announce that this year's event will take place on Sunday next, February 16, at 5pm. This year we will celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope with a new hymn, 'Pilgrims of Hope', as part of the programme. All are most welcome. Come sing favourite hymns with massed choirs, brass ensemble and organ. A collection to support the work of the Waterford Samaritans and the Cathedrals music education programme will be taken up at this great event. Expect a warm welcome and great singing. Garda Mobile Clinics

The next Garda Mobile Community clinics will take place on Wednesday, February 12, in the following locatons: Leamybrien (Apple Green) from 10am to 11.30am; Stradbally Square from 12noon to 1.30pm and Rathgormack from 2.30pm to 4pm. IF you wish to report a crime, complete a form or have other concerns that require Garda attention, this is an opportunity to engage with a local member of An Gárda Síochána in your local area.

Valentines Afternoon Tea

A Valentine's Afternoon Tea in aid of Waterford Hospice will take place at Woodhouse Estate, Stradbally, on Saturday afternoon, February 15, at 1.30 pm. The cost will be €35 per person, which includes a glass of Prosecco. Booking essential phone 051 - 203105 or email 1woodhouseestate@gmail.com and all are welcome.

Stradbally Market

Next Saturday the market will have a Valentine's feel to it. As well as the usual fruit, veg, home-baking, jams, relish, there will be heart-shaped buns, some lovely cards with roses available, if you forgot to send one to that important person in your life. There will also be strawberries and ice-cream for sale as a special treat. Do call in and support the local producers. Richard will have the kettle on for the cups of tea and coffee and the social banter that follows. You can also pre order any of the products on sale by calling Margaret on 087 6337215. Just drop by and pick up your order.

Stradbally AFC

Congratulations to Susie Lalor on winning the 7th edition of our Last Man Standing. Susie picked up a cheque for €1,000 for her prize. Thank you to everyone who very kindly supported this important fundraiser and to all our club members for gathering entries for the competition.
