Sympathies

It is with deep and sincere regret we record the death of Mrs Catherine Murphy (nee: Grant), Ardmore Park and Slieverue, Co Kilkenny who died Monday, September 2. Her remains lay in repose at Donnacha Doyle and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 4, followed by private cremation on Thursday, September 5.

Catherine was a lovely gentle lady who had a pleasant word with everyone she met and knew. A good neighbour she will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Predeceased by her parents Denis and Mary, she is survived by her daughter Priscilla and her son Merwynn, her grandchildren Shane, Kevin, and Granniah, sister Joan Coady, brothers Micheal and Thomas, son-in-law Anthony, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to whom we offer our deepest sympathy.

Birthday Corner

A very happy 5th birthday is wished to Emily Byrne, Cherrymount who celebrated her big day on Friday, September 8. Birthday wishes come to her from her mam and dad Katie and Mark, her grandad Paul Dower and her great-gran Betty Dower, Priory Lawn and all the family. A very happy 8th birthday is wished to Tadgh Murphy, Butlerstown who celebrates his birthday on Wednesday, September 11. Birthday wishes come to him from his mam and dad Aoife and Larry his sisters Ella and Celie and his brother Rian, his grandparents Ann and Albert Murphy, Butlerstown and Dorothy and Billy O’Sullivan, Ring, Co Waterford, and all his cousins and friends.

A very happy birthday is wished to Jade Power, who celebrated her birthday recently. We also send birthday wishes to Ann Sheridan, Larchville who celebrated her birthday this week. Birthday wishes come to them from all the Power family, Kingsmeadow and all their families.

A very happy birthday is wished to Lindsey Power, Clonard Park who celebrates her birthday on Wednesday, September 11. Birthday wishes come to her from all her family and her many friends, especially Adam Kiely who also celebrated his special day this week. A very happy birthday is wished to Linda Ryan, Priory Lawn who celebrated her birthday on Saturday, September 7. Birthday wishes come to her from all her family and her many friends. A very happy birthday is wished to Ted Smith, Glencarra who celebrated his birthday on Friday, August 30. Birthday wishes come to him from his wife Ann and all his family and many friends.

St Saviour's GAA

Little Saints meet every Saturday from 10am to 11pm, for boys and girls aged from 5 years to 8 years. The cost is €2 and any boys and girls from Ballybeg and the surrounding areas are welcome to attend.

Southend Utd FC 

Training has begun for all teams as the new season begins. The academy has started at a new time of Friday nights, for boys aged 4 to 5years and girls 4 to 6 years, from 6.15 to 7pm. The cost is €2. Parish News 

St Saviours Church Mass times are daily 10am, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and on Sunday at 8.30am, 11am and 5.30pm.

Baptism takes place after the 11am mass on Sunday and a weeks notice must be given please, though the Parish Office. For marriage, three months must be given. Fr Grant PP is available after mass on Sundays to take bookings for masses and all your spiritual needs.

St Paul's Community

On Saturday September, 14, at 2pm Mon Pat Fitzgerald PP will give a special blessing in the Knights Templars Project, in Kilbarry, set within St Paul's Parish. A blessing will also be given to the Bronze age burial statues uncover during an archaeological dig. A special mention will be made of Katie Holohan RIP, who from a young age helped her grandad Paddy in maintaining this historic piece of Waterford’s history. Coincidentally some of the surnames are still familiar with us today. All are welcome. 

Sympathy

Deepest sympathy to the Oates family on the death of a much loved husband father and grandfather, Thomas (Henry) Oates, Hazel Terrace, Lisduggan, who died on Wednesday, September 4. Formerly of Dominic Place, his remains lay in repose at Thompson's Funeral Home on Friday, September 6, with vigil prayers and rosary. Henry’s funeral cortege passed by his residence on Saturday, on route to St Nicholas Church, Ballyduff, for Requiem Mass followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Henry was predeceased by his parents Jack and Alice and his brothers Sean and Billy. He is survived by his wife Bridie, his children Micheal, Tina, Mark, Marcel, Marion and Alison, his 11 grandchildren and his great grandson Bobby, sons-in-law Declan, Joe and Pat, daughters-in-law Sheena and Denise, brother-in-law Jimmy, sisters-in-law Marie and Francis, nieces, nephews, extended family, relative’s, neighbours and friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Deepest to the Shanahan family on the death of their mother Eileen (Eily) Shanahan (nee: Galibert), Arbour Road, Lisduggan who died on Tuesday, August 27. Formerly of Costello’s Lane and late of the Jute Factory, her remains lay in repose at Thompson's Funeral Home on Thursday, August 29 with vigil prayers and rosary. Eily's cortege walked from Arbour Road on route to St Paul's Church for Requiem Mass, followed by burial in Kilbarry Cemetery. Predeceased by her husband Bobby, her son Maurice, her parents Maudy and Denis, her sisters Biddy, Maudy, and Ann, her brothers Johnny, Tom and Dennis and her aunt Moll. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her children Eddie, Ann, Bob, Denis, Eleanor, Maggie, Julie and Eileen, sons-in-law Jimmy, Tommy, Robbie and Paul, daughters-in-law Catherine, Theresa, Karen and Edel, grandchildren great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Matt, sister-in-law Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Parish Church

Mass takes place at 10am on Thursdays and Sunday in Butlerstown Church St Paul's, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am. Saturday vigil Mass is celebrated at 6pm and Mass on Sunday is at 8.30am and 11.30am. Rosary continues at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, at Belvedere, each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6.30pm. Prayer intention for vocations to the priesthood and religious life for the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore. This will continue till October and all are welcome to join in.
