Hurling in the Green was a great success
Well done to all who organised this great event which took place over the last number of weeks, concluding with a great fun night in the St Saviour's GAA club on Wednesday, July 31.
Girls and boys from Meadowbank, Ballybeg, and Foxwood have been enjoying hurling on the green in their estates over the last number of weeks and a great time was had by all the boys and girls. If your child enjoyed this event why not bring him to St Saviour's GAA Club. Ballybeg Drive. on Saturdays from 11am to 12pm, where Little Saints meet for hurling football and a bit of fun. Age 5 to 8 years. Congratulations to all club members who organised this great event with the help of the Bord Na Og and with Austin Gleeson on hand to the great delight of all the boys and girls attending.
Welcomed into the Christian community on Saturday, July 3, by Fr Gerry Chesnutt PP in the Sacred Heart Church the Folly, was baby Shea Gerard Murphy, baby son of Clodagh De Paor and Kieran Murphy. The godparents were his uncle’s David Murphy and Clive Power. Shea is grandson of Tom and Marian Murphy, Templars Hall and Gerard and Margaret Power, Tramore.
Deepest sympathy to the Udokwu family, Meadowbank on the death of their mother Maureen Udokwu, formerly of Nigeria, who died on Sunday, June 2. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Paul’s Church, Lisduggan on Saturday, August 10, followed by burial in Kilbarry cemetery.
Maureen was predeceased by her husband Joachim and she survived by her sons Kingsley, Victor, and Samuel and her daughter Jennifer, her mother Christiana, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
We said a sad farewell to Fr Felix, he was with the parish for a month to give Fr Pat a break. It would be nice to see him come back to us sometime in the future as he was a wonderful holy presence amongst us.
Mass times in Butlerstown church are 10am on Friday and Sunday.
Deepest sympathy to the Walsh family on the death of Danny (Ack Ack) Walsh, Connolly Place and formerly of CIE who died on Sunday, July 28. His remains lay in repose at Thompson's Funeral Home on Thursday, August 1, with a celebration of his life.
Danny's cremation service took place at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy on Friday, August 2. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, his brothers Jimmy, John and Paddy. He will be sadly missed by his sister Sally, brother-in-law Martin, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.
The members of the Edmund Rice Active Retired group had a great night at our annual BBQ in the Greenway Manor on Thursday, July 26. Music was by the wonderful Richie Hayes and as usual he entertained us with wonderful music where we danced the night away. The food was wonderful, as were the hotel staff. Many thanks to Trevor and all the staff for their attention to us all the evening. Our next meeting is on the first Thursday in September, in St Patrick’s Gateway at 2.30pm.

Prayers takes place at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, Belvedere on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6.30pm. Prayers for the Vocation to the Priesthood for the Diocese until October.
