Lot of birthday wishes in St Saviour's and St Pauls'

Late James (Jimmy) Caroll

It is with deep and sincere regret we record the death of Mr James (Jimmy) Carroll, Ballybeg Park, who died on Friday, June 21.

His remains lay in repose at Thompson's Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27, with rosary and vigil prayers.

Jimmy's funeral cortege walked from the funeral home to Ballybricken Church on Friday, June 28, for Requiem Mass on arrival, followed by burial in St Otteran's Cemetery, Ballinaneeshagh.

Jimmy was a lovely gentleman who always had a word for everyone. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him especially his family and neighbours. Predeceased by his beloved wife Ann and his son Warren, he is survived by his sons Mark, Alan, Gavin and Dean and their partners Mags. Olga and Rachel, his grandchildren Aaron, Ryan, Ciara, Kelly and Hamish, brothers and sisters, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom we offer our deepest sympathy.

Birthday Corner

Birthday wishes to Paul Laffan (aka: Big Paulie Cool of Sleeze and Cheese fame), Ard na Greine, who celebrated his 50th birthday on Thursday, July 4. Paul celebrated his birthday in great style with a surprise party on Friday, June 28, organised by his wife Gemma, in the Cove Bar. 

Birthday wishes come to him from his wife Gemma, his daughters Isabelle and Grace and his son Ely, all his family, his mam and dad Jack and Ann and especially his godmother, Marian Murphy, Templars Hall, and his many friends. Paul is popular employee of UHW and popular lead singer with Sleeze and Cheese.

A very happy birthday is wished to Marian Murphy, Templars Hall, who celebrated her special day on Monday, July 1. Birthday wishes come to her from her husband Tom, her children Thomas and Sam, Ita, Barry and Laurie, David and Kathryn, her six grandchildren Niamh, Darragh, Dylan, Siobhan, Aoife and baby Shea, and all the Laffan and Murphy Families, and her many friends especially all in the Edmund Rice ARA.

A very happy birthday is wished to Michelle Grant, Sherlock Walk, Gracedieu, who celebrates her birthday on Saturday, July 6. Birthday wishes come to her from her granny Betty Dower, and Anne and Gerry and all her family and friends.

A very happy 40th birthday is wished to Dermot Kavanagh, Congress Place, who celebrated his birthday recently. Birthday wishes come to him from all his family, his wife Gemma, his son Sean and daughter Lexi, all his step-children, his mam and dad, Gay and Paul, his brother Gerard and especially all his cousins in Templars Hall.

A very happy 3rd birthday is wished to Millie Byrne who celebrated her birthday recently. Her mam and dad, Nicola and Eamon Byrne, Ballybeg Court, send their birthday wishes to her as well as all her family - especially the Byrne family, Clonard Park and the Power family, Ballybeg Court.

Sympathy

Deepest sympathy to the Collins family on the death of their father Stephen Collins, Larchville and formerly of Cathal Brugha, late of Waterford Carpet Factory, who died on Monday, June 24. His remains lay in repose at his residence on Tuesday, June 25, with vigil prayers and rosary.

Stephen’s funeral cortege walked from his residence on Wednesday, June 26, to St Paul's Church, Lisduggan for Requiem Mass followed by burial in St Mary's Cemetery, Ballygunner. Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret, his parents Stephen and Stella, brother Richie, nieces and nephews, Stephen is survived by his daughters Stephanie, twins Carol and Claire, his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, brother Johnny, sisters Marie, Ann, Kathleen, Martina and Emelda, sons-in-law David and John-Paul, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. 

May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Edmund Rice ARA

The members of the Edmund Rice ARA had a wonderful day out with their annual mystery tour which brought them to Beyond the Trees, in Co Wicklow, finishing with a wonderful meal in the Horse & Hound, Ballinaboola. 

A great time was had by all. Well done to the committee who organised the day. We also just finished our last session of Chair Yoga under the wonderful guidance of Lisa. Yoga will return in September.

Sympathy

Deepest sympathy to Betty Dower, Priory Lawn, on the death of her sister Marian Sharpe, Garranmore, Farmleigh, Dunmore Road and formerly of O’Brien Street and Tyrone Avenue, Lismore Lawn. Late of Milton Bradley,  Marian's remains lay in repose at Thompson's Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, with vigil prayers and rosary, with removal to St Mary's Church Ballygunner, for reception.

Requiem mass was celebrated on Thursday, June 27, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Marian’s funeral cortege passed by her residence on route to the church. Marian was a former Irish dancing teacher, and she was a lovely gentle lady who will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Predeceased by her parents Mary and William, her sister Rosie (Morrissey), brothers John and Harry, she is also survived by her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

St Paul's Parish News

Mass times for St Paul' this week are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am; Saturday Vigil Mass at 6pm and Sunday Mass at 8.30am and 11.30am. Mass in Butlerstown is on Friday at 10am and Sunday at 10am.

Contact the Parish Office on 051 357730 and the office is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.15am to 12.45pm.

Grotto Prayer

A Grotto Rosary takes place each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6.30pm at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, Belevedere. Intention prayed for, vocations to the priesthood in the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore. This time of prayer began in May and will continue until October and all are welcome to join in.

St Saviour's Parish

St Saviour's Parish Shop is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 12pm. Mass times on weekdays are: 10am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; Sunday at 8.30am, 11am and 5.30pm.
