Bereavement 

The death sadly occurred on Wednesday, June 26, of Mrs. Rita Doherty, late of Coolbunnia, Faithlegg, Co. Waterford. Predeceased by her beloved husband Andrew, she is survived by her loving children Andrew, Dorothy, Maria, Jacqui, Richard and Michael; her adoring 30 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, her one great-great-grandchild; her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law and her brother-in-law Dennis.

 She will be greatly missed by all her nieces and nephews her extended family, relatives, wonderful neighbours and wide circle of friends. Requiem Mass took place on Sunday, June 30, at 1.30 pm in St. Nicholas Church Faithlegg, Co. Waterford, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Condolences are extended to Rita's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Monday, June 24, of Marian Sharpe, Garranmore, Farmleigh, Dunmore Road, Waterford. Formerly of O’Brien Street and Tyrone Avenue, Lismore Lawn. 

Former Irish dancing teacher and late of Milton Bradley, she was predeceased by her loving parents Mary and William, sister Rosie (Morrissey), brothers John and Harry. She is survived by her loving sister Betty, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. 

Marian will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Thursday, June 27, at 11.30 am in St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. 

Condolences are extended to Marian's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Farronshoneen Project Centre

If you are living on the Williamstown or Dunmore Road area we have a mixed gender art group for those aged 16 to 18 years, running every Monday from 7pm. 

If you are interested please don't hesitate to contact Nina on 086 7816269. 

The centre's games room is also available to book every Monday in July and August, with one hour slots available for up to six young people per session to play pool, air hockey, Playstation etc.

Dunmore RNLI

The Dunmore East RNLI gift shop, located in the harbour, is now open seven days a week. There are lots of lifeboat related and Dunmore East RNLI branded gifts available.

The shop is open from 11am to 5pm. Come in and say hello. 

Pub Quiz

A Pub Quiz in aid of the ISPCA will take place in the Three Shippes on Friday, July 12, at 7.30pm. 

The event is being run by Pet Hospital Waterford and there will be amazing prizes on the night

St. Joseph & Benildus Church

The coffee morning takes place every Wednesday morning in the Benildus Parish Centre, immediately after the 10.30am Mass in St. Joseph & Benildus Church. Everyone is welcome to attend and no booking required. 

We hope to see some new faces over the summer months.

Japanese Gardens Festival

Join us for the 'Legends and Lore' Summer Festival at the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens, Tramore from July 1 to 7. 

The event will take place from 10am to 5.30pm each day and the cost of admission will be €7 (adults), €3 (children) with those aged 3 and under getting free of charge.

This family-friendly event offers something for everyone, including our first ever Cosplay Competition. The woodlands will be decorated for the visiting fairies with many new fairy doors to find, including the magical Tree Spirits along our new secret path. 

Look out for the Summer Fairy and there will be lots of locations for great photo ops! There will be exciting children’s’ Ukulele and Fairy Door Craft Workshops designed to spark young imaginations and each day families will be able to gather around the beautiful Azumaya to hear strange legends from around the world, brought to life by our talented storytellers. 

Why not dress up for Cosplay when you visit the gardens and take note fairies, elves, superheroes and characters from legends and lore are all welcome.

High Hopes Choir

Passage East Festival

Passage Festival Day will take place on Sunday, July 14, featuring live music, food and kids fun.

Waterford City and County Council's, Playful Streets will kick things off at 2pm, with games for kids. That will be followed by live music and food. All are welcome and we hope to see you there.

Board Games 

Waterford Central Library is the venue for 'Board Game Saturdays' every Saturday morning from 10am to 12noon. 

Drop in for some family time playing board games and all are welcome. However, those aged under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Our last session in the Central Library, in town will be on July 3, from 10.30am to 12noon. 

We will be finishing up in the company of Jade, from 'Ready Steady Play', with lots of games, songs and fun for all the kids and adults to take part in. St Brigid's Family & Community Centre would like to thank all those who have been coming regularly and for all new comers too. It was a joy to be the company of you all. Have a lovely summer and see you in September.

Ready Steady Play

Ready Steady Play will take place at Ardkeen Library on Tuesday, July 16.

The session will take place at 10.30am (for walkers up to 8 years) and at 11.15am (for walkers up to 5 years). Everyone is welcome to attend.

The sessions are comprised of play music and movement and are being organised as part of the library's summer celebrations. The session at 10.30am will be additional needs friendly. Contact libraries directly for bookings. These are free sessions with limited spaces.

Art Camp

A Summer Art Camp will take place, for children aged between 5 and 12, in the Fisherman's Hall, Dunmore East.

The camps will be held from Monday, July 1 to Friday, July 5 and also from Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2. 

The sessions will feature arts & crafts, painting, drawing, clay sculpture, papier mache, collage, music and dance and games. For more information or to book a place phone Caroline on 087 2189185.
