Ordination of Stuart McGovern 

 Please keep in your prayers Stuart McGovern, who will be ordained a priest for our diocese on Sunday, November 23, Solemnity of Christ the King, 3pm, in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity Within, Waterford.

Healing Service in the Cathedral Next Healing Service in the Cathedral is on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 3pm. All are warmly welcome.

First Saturday Conference in Knock 

 To mark the 100th anniversary of the First Saturday Apparition in Pontevedra, Spain, there will be a special conference in Knock on the first Saturday 6 of December 2025. 

Adoration and confessions at 10am in the Reconciliation Chapel. 

Talks from Bishop John Keenan, Antonia Moffat, and Fr. Philip Kemmy in St. John's Centre. 

Rosary led by the Children's Rosary group, a 15-minute meditation led by Fr. Marius O'Reilly, as Our Lady requested for the First Saturdays, and time for lunch. At Fatima, Our Lady promised that there would be peace in the world and that many souls would be saved through this devotion.

Little Nellie’s Baby Bank 

Little Nellie’s Baby Bank: A pro-life and pro-family charity serving local families, located at John’s Hill, Waterford. 

Volunteers wanted: two hours per week. Roles include: Van Drivers: weekly two-hour delivery/ collection run (full licence). Baby Bank/Shop: sort donations, prepare baby packs, help on the shop floor. Sign up today: phone Pamela on 085-8623705.

Christmas at Christ Church 

Waterford Musical Society, in collaboration with Waterford Centre of Music, proudly presents Christmas at Christ Church - a heartwarming, festive concert, set in the stunning surroundings of Waterford's Christchurch Cathedral. 

Bathed in the warm, flickering glow of candlelight, the rich acoustics of this historic building and the festive sounds of two of Waterford's leading musical ensembles, the true spirit of Christmas will come to life in an evening of song. 

Featuring well-known, local performers, soaring choral arrangements and a children's choir from WCM Stage School that will touch the hearts of all. 

Christmas at Christ Church will be a beautiful evening of Classic Carols, Seasonal Favourites and Christmas Hits, which the whole family will love.

Intergenerational Christmas Coffee Morning  

Intergenerational Christmas Coffee Morning at 11:00am on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Central Library. 

There will be music, poetry, and song by the  Bealtaine Choir, U3A and local schools, along with festive refreshments from the Europe Direct Centre on the morning.

Shy Centre

Thank you to all the young people who helped prep for the last couple weeks for tonight and to those who made cookies and posters. 

We appreciate all your help.

This evening wouldn't have happened without you all.

John’s perk is bringing Santa to the community centre on Saturday, December 6 from 3pm -7.30pm. €6 per child/€5 each for families with more than one child, pay on the door. 

Come early to avoid disappointment children’s hot chocolate treat and a small gift included.

Walking Football Initiative 

Walking football is a fun, non-contact sport held in Butler’s Community Centre, Waterford, every Thursday from 11am – 12pm.

It offers significant physical and mental health benefits. 

As a team-based activity, Walking Football is a great way to socialise and meet others. 

The game has simple rules designed with health and safety in mind. Only non-contact tackling is allowed, and the ball must never go above head height.

Walking football is played on small pitches with small goals and five, six or even seven-a-side teams. 

It can be played on natural grass, on 3G/4G artificial pitches or indoors.

Whist Club 

Whist Club (card game) at the Butler Center, St. John's Park has changed to Wednesdays at 7pm -9pm. 

They would love to see all their old players and new players would be most welcome €5 per person. 

All new members welcome.

Solas Cancer Support Centre

The Solas Men’s Hub 

The Solas Men’s Hub is a new monthly activity-based group for men living with a cancer diagnosis. 

Join a group of men who understand what you’re going through. 

Our group offers connection and support through shared activities. 

Gentle group activities once a month - gentle sporting activities, games, visits to places of interest. 

Peer support from men who’ve been there. Relaxed, friendly meet-ups.

Kilbarry Nature Park 

Please be advised that due to essential maintenance works, a portion of the perimeter path in Kilbarry Nature Park will be closed for the next two weeks. 

People using the park are asked to follow the diverted route over the top of the park. We're sorry for any trouble caused during these works.

Shy Project 

We will be collecting items for the less fortunate this Christmas. 

Please drop items at the Shy centre. 

There is a list below of what's accepted. All our young people will help to decorate and pack shoeboxes that we will pass on to local charities. 

We will also be doing hampers if people want to donate non perishable food Items such as hats, gloves, scarves, sanitary products, wet wipes, toothbrush, toothpaste and treats. 

Food can also be donated. 

Lots of or young people want to help the less fortunate this year, so we have decided to do some Christmas shoe boxes with our groups. 

Please donate what you can.

DIY Demonstration 2X2 hour workshops with Marianne Heapy- Buion Phort Lairge Basics of DIY, Preparation for Painting, DIY Safety, and use power tools on Monday, November 24 and Monday, December 1 in the Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre, Kilcohan from 2.30pm – 4.30pm upcoming DIY course is being held over 2 days for anyone who would be interested. 

We are hoping to attract people from the local community before opening it out to the wider community. Refreshments served.

Southland Roller Derby's free Open Night in Kingfisher, Waterford 

Looking for a new, fun activity for the new year that's not weather permitting? 

Beginner's Skating is just the thing for you! 

If you’re interested in learning how to skate, come along to Southland Roller Derby's free Open Night in Kingfisher, Waterford, to learn more about our upcoming eight-week Learn to Skate Programme starting in February 2026. 

Our league trains everyone over 18. 

Absolutely no experience on skates required.  

We’ll teach you everything from the very start. 

We weren’t born with wheels on our feet but some of us spent our childhood on skates and some of us never wore a pair of skates but it’s never too late to give it a go.

So how about you take the chance and come along on Tuesday, January 27 and have a look to see what exactly we do and maybe try on a pair of skates.

We will have skates and protective gear if you'd like to try them on before committing to the programme.
