Bereavement

The death has sadly occurred on Saturday, December 13, of Mr Sean Cuddihy, Ursuline Crescent, Kilcohan, Waterford. Formerly of St. John's Park, Waterford. Late of Waterford Crystal.

Predeceased by his loving brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife Eileen, sons Des, Johnny, David, Gavin, daughters Sandra, Linda, daughters-in-law Trish, Jacqui, Nicola, son-in-law Mickey, his 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. 

Sean will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass took place on Monday, December 15, in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, Waterford, at 1pm, followed by burial in Slieverue Church Cemetery, Co. Kilkenny. 

Condolences are extended to Sean family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

The death has sadly occurred on Monday, December 15 2025, of Mrs Eileen (Eily) Ryan née Power, Saint John’s Park, Waterford. 

Predeceased by her beloved daughters, Maria and Sharon. 

She is survived by her loving husband Peter, her loving children Teresa, Billy, Peter, Bernadette, Paul, Noleen, Denise, David, Gary, Elaine and Michelle, her adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter. 

Eily will be fondly remembered by her sisters Breda, Josie and Teresa, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends. 

Eileen (Eily) will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends. 

Requiem Mass took place on Friday, December 19, at 11am in The Sacred Heart Church, The Folly. 

Eily was laid to rest in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. 

Condolences are extended to Eileen's family, relatives and friends. 

May she rest in peace.

December Monday 22nd - 10am and 7pm. Tuesday 23rd - 10am and 7pm Christmas Eve: 10am (Confessions after Mass), 7pm. Midnight Christmas Day: 8:30am; 10am; 11:30am. Friday 26th - 10am. Saturday 27th - 10am and 6:30pm * Sunday 28th - 8:30am; 10am and 11:30am * Monday 29th - 7pm * Tuesday 30th - 10am * Wednesday 31st - 10am and 7pm January 2026 * Thursday 1st - 10am * Friday 2nd - Regular Mass schedule resumes.

Christmas Day Dinner 

The annual Christmas Day dinner for those in need, under the auspices of the Knights of St. Columbanus, will take place as usual, at 12:30pm on Christmas Day at St. Joseph’s School, Parnell Street, Waterford. 

This function has now been running without a break for well over 80 years. 

Anyone, particularly those who are far from home who would not otherwise enjoy a Christmas dinner on that day are very welcome - just turn up at 12:30pm. 

The dinner is completely free to all attending.

Butler Community Centre Christmas Holidays 

The Centre will close on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 and will re-open on Friday, January 2, 2026. 

The Management and Staff of the Butlers Centre wish all their Customers a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and Prosperous New Year.

Outrage Foróige Club and Warriors Junior Foróige Club 

Outrage Foróige club and Warriors junior Foróige club held a joint Christmas party last Thursday. A great time was had by everyone. 

Both clubs would like to thank the management and staff of Butler’s Community Centre, parents, and leaders for all their help and support during the year clubs will close on Thursday, December 18 and will be back in January for another exciting year.

Whist Club 

Whist Club (card game) at the Butler Center, St. John's Park has changed to Wednesdays at 7pm -9pm. 

They would love to see all their old players and new players would be most welcome €5 per person all new members welcome.

Pickle Ball 

Ever played indoor pickleball? Try a game at Butler Community Centre, just book at www.sportskey.com, we'll have the court, net, bat and balls ready. Pickleball is a paddle sport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, played by two or four players on a badminton-sized court with a net. 

Players use paddles to hit a plastic ball over the net until a fault is committed, such as failing to return the ball, making a serve illegal, or stepping into the non-volley zone (the "kitchen") to hit the ball. 

The game is typically played to 11 points, win by two, with only the serving team able to score points.

Table Tennis 

Whether you're brand new to table tennis or looking to sharpen your basics, come join us in a friendly and fun environment, led by qualified coaches who will guide you every step of the way. 

Our Open Play sessions on Tuesdays 8–10pm and Fridays 6–8pm, in Butler’s Community Centre, Waterford.

Clinics are run in a group setting; there is no need to book.

What should I expect to happen?

When you arrive at a clinic, you will be invited to sit down and fill out a consent form. 

The worker will explain the treatment. The worker will place five sterilised needles into the outer shell of each ear at specific points. 

You then sit back and relax for forty minutes listening to nice music in a room surrounded by candles.
