Local Notes: Car boot sales, poetry and creative dance

The poetry book launch will take place on June 22
Waterford Cheshire will be holding its Summer Car Boot Sale on John's Hill, Waterford (X91 HH97), on Sunday, June 9, from 10am to 2pm.
A space for this event costs €20 and can be booked on 086 8801860 - text only with full name and contact details. There will be a variety of stalls on the day and you will be supporting a good cause.
Waterford Library Service will run the Summer Stars Reading Adventure in all library branches during the summer from Tuesday, June 4 to August 31.
Each child is invited to register for the adventure at any library and will be given a Summer Stars Reading Card to record and track their progress. At the end of the adventure, children return their reading card to their local Library. Waterford Library staff will visit schools in October to present the children with their Summer Stars medal and certificate of achievement.
The launch of an illustrated collection of minimalist poetry titled, 'View from my Window', written by Ger Rogers and illustrated by Anne McDonnell, will take place on Saturday, June 22, in Central Library, Lady Lane, at 3pm. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend, no booking required.
Get creative with Central Library to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg. Come along to a Creative Dance Class with dance artist, Rachel Ní Bhraonáin. This is a dance class for children aged 5 to 8 years, who love to move and be creative. The hour will be full of games and great songs to get your child to express themselves exercise and have fun through dance. No previous dance experience is needed. Please wear trousers and tops you can move in and bring a bottle of water. Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre Waterford has teamed up with Waterford City and County Council for a Creative Communities initiative to create a mural with adults and children from 10 to 14 years.
Help us create art that reflects the spirit of our community and participate in a community mural. No experience necessary and the initiative will be facilitated by Artist in Residence, Ruth, on Saturday, June 8, from 9.30am to 11.30am and 12noon to 2pm. The Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre will be holding a Kids Summer Camp for the month of July for children aged between 8 and 12. The programme will run for four days, Monday to Thursday, from 10am to 2pm and the cost will be €45 per week. The camp will take place from July 1 to 4, July 8 to 11, July 15 to 18 and July 22 to 25.

Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre is running a Social Anxiety Programme for people 18 years and over for 10 weeks.
The programme will provide people with an opportunity to challenge fears around social experiences. It began on Thursday, May 30, and takes place from 7pm to 9pm. Chair Yoga takes place every Thursday from 11am to 12pm in the Butler Community Centre. Sometimes people with different abilities may feel there is a lack of choice when it comes to Yoga. Chair Yoga is inclusive to people of all abilities and will offer everyone the opportunity to take part and benefit from it. The cost is €40 for six weeks. Whist Club card games take place at the Butler Centre, St. John's Park, on Tuesday’s at 7.30pm. They would love to see all their old players and new players are very welcome. The cost is €5 per person.
Warriors Junior Foróige Club is looking for new members, boys and girls, aged between 10 to 12 years of age.
The club meets in the Butler Community Centre every Thursday night from 7pm to 8 pm. Foróige Club is a place for young people to hang out, meet new friends, get involved in activities and have a voice. Limited places available.
The Shy Project is currently looking for volunteers from within the local community. Join our volunteer team and what is needed is genuine care for and belief in young people for two-and-a-half hours each week.
A wonderful opportunity to make a difference to the lives of young people in the Sacred Heart Community. Activities include developmental group work with young people aged from 10 to 24 years and also a homework club in partnership with Scoil Lorcain School.
