Southend FC continues with its soccer academy for kids

Late Roger Kelly

It is with deep and sincere regret we record the death of Mr Roger Kelly, Priory Lawn, who died on Wednesday, August 14. Former caretaker of St Saviour's NS and formerly of Leamy Street.

His remains lay in repose at Thompson's Funeral Home on Friday, August 16, with vigil prayers and rosary. Roger’s cortege walked from his residence on Saturday, August 17, to St Saviour's Church for Requiem Mass on arrival, followed by burial in St Otteran's Cemetery. Roger was a very popular gentleman who always had a word for everyone. He was very popular with all the school children when he was the caretaker in St Saviour's NS. A loving father and grandfather he will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

He was predeceased by his wife Nancy, his parents May and Micheal, his sisters Caroline and Maureen and his brother Jack. He is survived by his son Micheal and daughter Anne-Marie his grandchildren Conor and Aaron, daughter-in-law Nell and son-in-law Dan, his sisters Breda, Peggy, Pauline, Rose and Terry, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom we offer our deepest sympathy.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Darren and Ami Flanagan, Tramore, on the recent birth of their third child, a boy who will be called Ronan James and is a sister for Mia and Cathal. Another grandchild for Jackie and Nicky Flanagan, Ballybeg Court.

Birthday

A very happy birthday is wished to Mary Callopy, Lisduggan who celebrated her special day on Thursday, August 15. Birthday wishes come to her from her husband Larry and all her family especially her sister Helen, Ballybeg Court, and all in the Edmund Rice ARA.

Sympathy

Deepest sympathy to the Whyte Family on the death of their mother Margaret Whyte (nee: Walsh), late of Waterford Residential Care Centre and formerly of Avondale, Manor Lawn and Walsh’s Pub, Ballybricken who died on Wednesday, August 14.

Her remains lay in repose at Tom Hennessy’s Funeral Home on Thursday, August 15. Requiem mass was celebrated for Margaret in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity Without, Ballybricken on Friday, August 16, followed by cremation in the Island Crematorium on Saturday, August 17.

Predeceased by her sisters Betty Beglin, Mary Smith, and her brother Walter Walsh, she is survived by her children Claire, Paula, Micheal. Carmel and David, her sister Helen, her brothers Jim and Tom, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren, nieces ,nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Sympathy

Deepest sympathy to the Dunphy family Lismore Park, on the death of a much loved wife, mother and grandmother, and great-grandmother Ellen Nelly Dunphy (nee: Butler), who died on Wednesday, August 14. Formerly of Gortaclode, Kilmeadan and late of the Tannery, Portlaw.

Her remains lay in repose at her residence on Thursday, August 15. Nelly’s funeral cortege walked from the Bank on Fr Gregory Power Way on Friday, August 16 to St Paul's Church for requiem mass on arrival followed by burial in Ballybuff Cemetery.

Predeceased by her parents Nicky and Mary Butler, she is survived by her husband Frank, her children Fiona, Suzanne, Yvonne, Nicola, Denise, Ellen, Maria and Patrick, grandchildren and great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, sisters, brother, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and her wonderful friends, especially Pauline Walsh and her family. May Nelly’s gentle soul rest in peace.

Southend FC

Southend Academy for boys and girls age between 5 and 8 years, takes place each Saturday from 2pm to 3pm. Contact any club member for more information. 

St Saviour's GAA

St Saviours GAA would like to thank everyone who supported their Bingo night in the Forum last week. The night was a great success a special thank you to all our raffle sponsors. We held a try hurling night on Wednesday last and again we were delighted with the turnout. If your boy or girl is interested in trying out hurling or football, why not bring them along to the club on Saturday mornings 11am to 12pm where Little Saints for boys and girls aged 5 to 8 years meet and have fun as well a learning the game.

St Paul's Church

Butlerstown Cemetery Mass takes place on Wednesday, August 21, at 7.30pm. Rosary at the Grotto continues each Monday, Wednesday and Friday until October at 6.30pm. Prayers offered for vocations to the priesthood and religious life and world peace.

Mass times in St Paul's are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am, Saturday Vigil at 6pm and Sunday Mass at 6.30pm and 11.30am. Mass in Butlerstown is celebrated on Friday at 10am and Sunday at 10am. Contact St Paul's and Butlerstown 051 357730 between 9.15am and 12.45pm Monday to Friday.

St Saviour's Church

Mass time in St Saviour's daily Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 10am and on Sunday at 8.30am, 11am and 5.30pm. Baptism takes place at 12pm each Sunday and one weeks’ notice must be given. Contact the parish office at 051 376032 or email stsaviourspo@outlook.com
