80 years young: A very happy 80th birthday is wished to Dixie Bailey, Ursuline Court, who celebrated his special milestone birthday with his wife Mary, his children Kevin, Margaret, Mark, Pamela and Ian, their grandchildren and great grandchildren in the Marina Hotel on Sunday, July 6. Dixie was a popular employee of Waterford Crystal and was well-known to give a song in the Wander Inn some years ago. A very happy birthday is wished to Jack Laffan, Rathfadden Villas, and his brother-in-law Paul Kavanagh, Congress Place, who both celebrate their birthdays on July 23. Birthday wishes come to them from all their families and their many friends.

A very happy wedding anniversary is wished to Catherine and Shaner Ryan, Cork Road, who celebrate their special day on July 22. Best wishes come to them for many more years of happiness from all the Laffan and Ryan families and especially their daughter Katie and all the Murphys, Templars Hall.
Southend FC in conjunction with the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Ballybeg Estate, will hold a Mini World cup 7-aside on Monday, July 21, for boys born between 2015-16; Wednesday, July 23, for boys born between 2013-14, and girls born between 2012-14; Friday, July 25 for boys born between 2011-12.

Her many friends in the Ballybeg area were saddened to hear of the death of Ina Kelly, nee Russell, Cannon Street, who died on Wednesday, July 9. Formerly of Mayor's Walk, Buttermilk Lane, and Ballybeg Park, and late of Waterford Crystal Canteen, her remains lay in repose at her home on Thursday, July 10, with vigil prayers and rosary.
Requiem Mass took place in Ballybricken church on Friday, July 11, followed by Cremation on Saturday, July 12, in the Island Crematorium, Co Cork. Predeceased by her mother and father, Molly and Henry, she is survived by her loving husband Tommy, daughters Gillian and Avril, her brother Henry, her sisters Kitty and Anne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends, to whom we also offer our deepest sympathy.
May Ina's gentle soul rest in peace.
