Bereavements

The death sadly occurred on Thursday, May 14, 2026 of Mrs Orla Hearne (née: Phelan), Kennedy Row, St John’s Park, Waterford, formerly of St Mary’s, Knockboy. Orla was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, auntie, friend and neighbour. Predeceased by her loving parents Mary and Stanley and her niece Jamie. 

She is survived by her loving husband Pat; sons Ryan, Steven and Patrick; brothers Martin, Gerard, Alan and Lee; sisters Catherine, Jackie, June and Trish; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends, especially from the Waterford Dragon Boat Club. 

Orla will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Requiem Mass took place in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, on Saturday, May 16 at 2pm, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. Condolences are extended to Orla’s family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Saturday, April 25, 2026 of Ms Rachel Cusack, Foyle Avenue, Avondale, Waterford and Auckland, New Zealand. Rachel was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend. She is survived by her loving daughter Willow. 

She will be sadly missed by her partner Tom, her heartbroken parents Glenn and Noeleen (Ryan), sister Sarah, extended family and wide circle of friends. Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, at 12 noon, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. Condolences are extended to Rachel’s family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Thursday, May 14, 2026 of Mr David Taffe, Kilcohan Park, Waterford, formerly of Congress Place and late of The Paper Mills and H.P Chemie. Predeceased by his loving wife Catherine (Kathleen), mother Catherine, father John, sisters May (Mary) and Kitty, and brothers Bernard and Michael. 

He is survived by his loving daughter Belinda, son Niall, son-in-law Derek, grandsons Cameron, Ryan, Reece and Leon, granddaughter Codie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. 

David will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, on Monday, May 18, at 10am, followed by burial in Kilbarry Cemetery. Condolences are extended to David’s family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

The death sadly occurred on Friday, May 15, 2026 of Mrs Anastasia (Lily) O’Brien (née: Dwyer), St Herblain Close, Waterford, formerly of Barrack Street. Predeceased by her loving husband Edward, daughter Patricia, brothers Paddy, Stephen, Mick and Tommy, sister Katty and granddaughter Katie Lily. 

She is survived by her loving sons Eddie, Michael and John; daughters Margaret and Mary; daughters-in-law, son-in-law, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Hollie, Fia and Lily; nephews, nieces, extended family, very good neighbours and friends.

Anastasia will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday, May 19 in Ballybricken Church at 12 noon, followed by burial in St Otteran’s Cemetery, Ballinaneeshagh. 

Condolences are extended to Anastasia’s family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 of Mr Edward (Eddie) Barry, Ashley Crescent, Cherrymount, Waterford. 

He is survived by his loving wife Shauna (Fenton) and his sons Owen, Mark and Alex. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Nicole, Dean, Jade and Lily; Owen’s partner Stephanie; Alex’s partner Shanifa; brothers and sisters-in-law, extended family, neighbours and friends. Edward (Eddie) will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Cremation took take place on Saturday, May 23, at 1pm in the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co Cork.

Condolences are extended to Edward’s family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

The death sadly occurred on Sunday, May 17, 2026 of Mr Ken Sai Ying Heung, late of Ursuline Crescent, Waterford, formerly of Hong Kong. He is survived by his loving wife Aoife and children Sarah, Alan, Joe and Kevin; grandchildren Noah, Chloe, Ella, Sasha and Matilda; son-in-law Dave; daughters-in-law Seojin, Cindy and Niamh; extended family, neighbours and friends. Ken will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

A celebration of Ken’s life was held in Tom Hennessy’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20, from 9.30am to 11am, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. Condolences are extended to Ken’s family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Friday, May 15, 2026 of Mrs Alice O’Brien (née: Power), late of St John’s Park and formerly of Butlerstown and Pearse Park, Waterford. Predeceased by her parents Alice and Eddie, and brother Noel.

She is survived by her loving husband Pat. Forever missed by her children Amy, Pat and Kate, and her grandchildren Aoife and Dylan. Alice will be fondly remembered and missed by her sisters Roseleen, Helen and Martina; brothers Nicky, Eddie and Jimmy; nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 2.30pm in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, followed by private cremation in the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co Cork. Condolences are extended to Alice’s family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Prayers and best wishes to the boys, their parents and families, teachers and Faith Friends, and all who helped them prepare for this special day.

Eucharistic Adoration: Waterford and Lismore Diocese is renewing and developing its Adoration Lay Committee. Waterford Garda Station Open Day

Waterford Garda Station Open Day will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, June 1, 2026 from 1pm to 4pm. A quiet hour will be held from 1pm to 2pm for those with sensory needs. Visitors can see Garda vehicles, the Roads Policing Unit, the Scenes of Crime Unit and more.
