Local Notes: ATN, GAA news, soccer, camogie and task force

The Well Kidz initiative is very popular
A fresh painting task has been completed in preparation for the ATN Festival traffic through the town. We would love if volunteers could private message us, if they have any ideas for projects around the village. We would be delighted to work with them, getting more volunteers to help deliver on their ideas.
The ATN (All Together Now) festival time has come round again and we're hoping all the visitors will have a wonderful time and that their visit to the village will be memorable and should they wish to return to our beautiful village, they will be made welcome and get further impressions of our home Portlaw
What another fantastic morning we had at Well Kidz with all the boys and girls taking part in lots of fun and games as well as showing us their hurling and Gaelic football skills. A huge thank you to the amazing coaches that keep the kids so involved and enjoying every minute. This weeks session finished with some well deserved ice cream and loom bands, made by the wonderful Amelia for all the kids. Well Kidz always welcomes new children so come along and give it a go.
We would like to give a special mention to our own Paul Shankey who was honoured along with his 1999 Meath All-Ireland winning team mates in Croke Park on Sunday before the All-Ireland football final.
Paul is heavily involved in all aspects of the club and a fantastic support to all our teams. All in the club are extremely proud of Paul’s endeavours this year after a highly successful year as Waterford Senior Football manager and we wish him the very best.
Our U14 team achieved a great victory against Ferrybank in the championship semi-final, advancing to the final. Congratulations to the players and management. Our Minor girls also triumphed convincingly in their championship's first round against Brickey Rangers. Well done to all the players and management, well done. A huge congratulations to the Waterford teams and our club girls - Layla O'Regan, Chloe Rochford, Aoibheann Doherty, Sarah O'Connor, and Sarah Kelly - who were all part of the U14 Waterford Camogie Development squads over the weekend. Layla, Chloe, and Aoibheann were part of the Waterford U14 Stripes team that won the shield final against Offaly in the Orla McDonagh inter-county blitz yesterday. Sarah O'Connor and Sarah Kelly played for the Waterford U14 White team, which was narrowly beaten in the final of their division at the blitz. Fantastic work, girls. The club is very proud of you all.
