Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Sunday, October 19, 2025, of Mr. Chris (Christy) Walsh, Eldon Terrace, John’s Hill, Waterford. 

Pre-deceased by his loving parents, Nancy and Piery Walsh. 

He is survived by his loving wife Liz (White) and Sister Ann (Kavanagh), his brothers-in-law Terence, Joe, Sam (White) and Tim (Kavanagh), goddaughter Sarah, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and his wide circle of friends. 

Chris will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends. 

Requiem mass took place on Wednesday, October 22, in St. John’s Church, Parnell Street at 12pm.  

Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. Condolences are extended to Chris's (Christy) family, relatives and friends. 

May he rest in peace.

Young Waterford Playwright Award 2025 

Applications are now open for the Waterford Young Playwright 2025 award valued at €2500 for a young playwright aged between 15 - 30. 

Applicants must have either been born or living in Waterford or have some connection to the city or county. 

Applicants will be invited to submit a ten-page extract from an existing play, along with an outline for a new work and an indication of how the Award would benefit them in their pursuit of a playwriting career. 

The Award will be administered by the Ted and Mary O’Regan Arts Bursary and the closing date for receipt of submissions is Friday the 31 of October at 5pm.
