Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Saturday, January 3, 2026, of Mrs. Helen Walsh, nee Barry, Sweetbriar Park, Lower Newtown, Waterford.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Gerry. 

She is survived by her loving family, Clodagh, Michael, Eleanor and Paul, her sister Joan, grandchildren Alex, Susannah, David, Richard, Clodagh, Aidan and Pierce, daughters-in-law Sue and Helen, son-in-law Michael, sister-in-law Catherine, brother-in-law George, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Helen will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass took place on Thursday, January 8, at 2.30pm in St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. 

Condolences are extended to Helen's family, relatives and friends. 

May she rest in peace.

Formerly of Parnell Street, Waterford. Late of the Central Statistics Office, Cork. 

Predeceased by his loving parents, John and May and brother-in-law Michael.

He is survived by his loving brothers John and Gerard, sisters Margaret and Catherine, friend Goretti, brother-in-law Eamonn, sisters-in-law Rosemary and Agnes, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Tom will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

The death has sadly occurred on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, of Mrs. Kay Murphy (née McDonald), Havenwood and Kilbarry Care Centre, Kilbarry, Waterford / Ballycallan, Kilkenny.

Late of Williamstown Park, Waterford. Predeceased by her loving parents, Josephine and Mark.

She is survived by her loving children, Valerie and Lianne. 

Will be sadly missed by her sisters Mary and Teresa, grandchildren Ryan and Neeva, son-in-law Paul and Lianne's partner Declan, her niece Christina, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Kay will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Requiem mass took place in Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, Waterford at 11am, burial afterwards in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ballykeeffe, Co. Kilkenny. 

Condolences are extended to the Kay family, relatives and friends.

The Litter Picking Group: The Litter Picking Group would very much welcome volunteers from Ardkeen Village to pick litter at the entrance and estate once every two weeks for an hour. 

Bags and Picker are free of charge. Please contact the parish office if interested.

The Solas Men’s Hub 

The Solas Men’s Hub is a new monthly activity-based group for men living with a cancer diagnosis. 

Join a group of men who understand what you’re going through. 

Our group offers connection and support through shared activities. 

Gentle group activities once a month - gentle sporting activities, games and visits to places of interest. 

Peer support from men who’ve been there. Relaxed, friendly meet-ups.

Unwanted Christmas Presents 

Do you have any unwanted Christmas gifts you won’t use? 

We’d love to give them a new home!

We are very grateful for donations such as: chocolates & biscuits (sell-by date April or later) candles, bubbly, perfumes, beauty products. 

These lovely items are used for group refreshments in the centre and to make-up hampers for raffles throughout the year. 

Our hampers are a huge source of funding for the centre, and these donations make a big difference.

Weekly Dance Fitness Class 

Put on your comfy shoes and come join us for a fun, feel-good dance fitness class every Thursday from 7pm–8pm at the Solas Cancer Support Centre. 

We kick things off on Thursday, January 15 and will be dancing together for six weeks — no experience needed, just come as you are and enjoy moving to the music! 

This class is open to female clients of Solas with a cancer diagnosis.

Independent Travel Support Service is now available in Waterford, from Monday to Friday, 9am -5pm.

Waterford Central Library 

Waterford Inner City Parent & Toddler Group will be returning on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Waterford Central Library, 10:30am - 12pm.

Tai Chi Classes for Beginners 

New Students Welcome Are you looking for a gentle way to improve your health, balance, and overall well-being?

I warmly welcome new beginners to join my Tai Chi classes. 

Tai Chi is a slow and mindful practice that helps to improve balance and stability. 

Support physical and mental health. 

Reduce stress and tension and increase body awareness and relaxation. 

No previous experience is needed. The movements are easy to learn and suitable for all ages. 

We take things step by step in a calm and supportive environment. 

If you are curious about Tai Chi or looking for a healthy habit to care for your body and mind, you are very welcome to join us.

Waterford Centre of Music 

We have two very exciting classes for children aged 3-6, Tiny Tunes and Musical Minis New term starting Saturday, January 10. 

Children attending both classes can stay from 10am -11:45pm.

Tiny Tunes: Our discovering music class where children will learn all basic rudiments of Music through singing, movement, xylophones & percussion instruments. 

Children will also be introduced to a wide range of musical instruments & styles of music in a super friendly environment, where the emphasis is always on enjoyment, child development, having fun and making friends and instilling a love of music in each child.

Time: 10am -10.45am Fee: €12 per class.

Musical Minis: An All Singing, All Dancing, All acting, super fun group class, where children will delight in the joy of musicals, Disney favorites and lots, lots more. 

From recreating well-loved scenes, dancing through wonderful choreography, and all topped off with singing the biggest and brightest songs....Your little star will love every minute of Musical Minis. 

Our zero pressure, all inclusive environmental will nurture every child that comes through our door, where they will build confidence, learn new skills but most importantly make new friends and having and absolute ball, while our expert team are on hand, as always, to instill a love for all things musicals, dancing & singing.
