Historic photo gives glimpse into Waterford village's past

A photo from the Stradbally Photographic Archive in County Waterford has presented local people with an intriguing glimpse into the past.
The photo, which was submitted to the archive by Aidan Coffey, was taken in the studio of E Keohan & Son, Main Street, Dungarvan.
According to those behind the SPA, the subject matter of the photo was Patrick Kiely (1897-1998) of Moonakirka, Stradbally. Patrick attended St Augustine's College, and then won a scholarship to University College Cork, where he studied medicine.
He graduated from his court in 1920 and went on to become a well-known surgeon in Cork.
It's believed the photo may date back to 1914, around the time Mr Kiely won the scholarship to UCCThe photograph may date from around the time he won the scholarship and went away to UCC.
