Bealtaine is Ireland’s national festival which celebrates the arts and creativity as we age, providing opportunities for older people to be more creative more often, to create meaningful participation and representation for all older people in cultural and creative life.
Garter Lane has a stacked lineup of free events as part of the festival this year, including a public performance and public speaking workshop led by actor Lynda Gough.
A number of screenings will also take place, including 1988 winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film, 'Cinema Paradiso', along with documentary 'Stone of Strength', chronicling the journey of Waterford’s David Keohan as he revives the age old tradition of stone lifting.

After a sold-out Dublin debut in Whelan’s, and a sold out show in Waterford’s Bank Lane, Dave Lofts continues his meteoric rise by announcing a headline show at Theatre Royal Waterford.
Last year, Dave Lofts sold out a series of summer shows, and a host of festival performances that include Electric Picnic, Kaleidoscope, and main stage at Sea Sessions.
As well as this he has played All Together Now in Waterford, to over four thousand hometown fans on the ‘Something Kind Of Wonderful’ stage, whilst also sharing stages with the likes of Gavin James, Cast, Crash Test Dummies, and sharing a billing with Kingfishr, Amble, and Kneecap.
At the end of last summer, Dave released his debut live album, ‘Live From Phil Grimes’, which subsequently went 'Number 1' in the Irish indie charts.
