Monotype printmaking for adults, October 4, Project Space at Garter Lane Studios

A monotype is a unique, one of a kind, handmade print, created by drawing or painting an image onto a plate and transferring this to paper.

In this workshop, participants will develop their own approach to this spontaneous, painterly medium, creating several monotype prints.

Guests will explore monochrome mark-making exercises, work with wipe-out, direct painting, and Tonking to make prints.

This workshop is suitable for professional artists as well as beginners.

Running the workshop is David Begley, a visual artist, writer, film maker, botanical ink and charcoal maker, and an arts educator.

He works through drawing, painting, monotype, video, sound, and animation.

His monotype prints have been selected for exhibitions at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, London, Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin, Contemporary Masters of Printmaking, Cork, and Oriel Mostyn, Wales.
