Waterford's own Lumina, are proud to present their first Christmas concert, which will be taking place at the special Franciscan Friary at Lady Lane, Waterford

The programme will include a variety of well-known Christmas carols and songs, in addition to some Renaissance Christmas music, with proceeds of the concert going to support the Franciscan Friary in Waterford.

Lumina is made up of alumni from the SETU Choral Programme.

Within five months of re-establishing, the group was chosen from nearly 60 choirs to become ‘Choir of the Festival’ at the AIMS Choral Festival, which took place in New Ross in May of this year.

The accomplished choir is conducted by Niall Crowley and accompanied by Sinéad Crowley.

The concert will also feature award-winning mezzo soprano, Emma Power. A proud alumni of the Choral Programme, Emma recently completed the Masters of Music Performance Program at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, studying with Dr Imelda Drumm and Dr Dearbhla Collins.

They are recipients of the Mezzo Solo cup, The Margaret Burke-Sheridan cup, the Mrs P.J Geoghegan Memorial Cup, The Lieder Prize and the Mahler Prize at the Feis Ceoil.

Emma also featured at the Irish Salon Opera recital, the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and in the National Concert Hall with the NSO.

In addition to Lumina, there will also be a performance by the SETU Choral Programme Alumni. Although many of these are no longer living in Waterford, they are singing in some of the finest choirs in Ireland and abroad and they cherish the opportunity to sing together again at the reunion on December 23, every year.
