This year's annual Solas Walk and Run for Life took place at the weekend in Waterford.
The event was a fantastic success with over 3,000 participants converging on the city to give their support to what is one of the principle fundraising and awareness events for the Solas Cancer Support Centre.

The event ran smoothly and the participants created a very impressive sight as they walked and ran along the route decked out in orange and blue.
The Solas Cancer Support Centre is one of the most highly regarded cancer support services in the country.

It serves not just the people of Waterford but also throughout the south east and that's reflected each year in the different counties represented in the Solas Walk and Run For Life.
However, like many organisations of its type it's the support of the general public that ensures it can keep carrying out the invaluable services it provides to the community and with that in mind the event last weekend was extremely important and the support given to it was much appreciated by everyone involved in the centre.

The centre provides the highest quality cancer support services to the people of the south east region.
The centre provides free support for those affected by cancer, their families and carers.

The Solas Cancer Support Centre has been in existence since 1999 and has been based in a purpose-built facility in Waterford City since 2011. A new West Waterford service, based in Dungarvan, opened in September 2016 and is located in the Alternative Health Clinic at 12 Main Street, Dungarvan.
