Richie Hayes prepares for major hometown shows

Waterford’s Richie Hayes returns home this Christmas to star in and lead, 'Jack and the Beanstalk', at the SETU Arena from December 17 to 30.

Hayes, a celebrated entertainer with over 26 years of experience across Ireland and abroad, is bringing his renowned stagecraft back to his hometown for what he describes as a dream come true.

After acclaimed performances at Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre and the University Concert Hall in Limerick, Richie’s homecoming marks a milestone in a career that has spanned pantomime, musicals, international variety tours, television appearances, and even cruise ship performances.

“Bringing 'Jack and the Beanstalk' to Waterford, where my love of theatre began, is incredibly special to me,” said Hayes. 

“I’ve performed on stages across Ireland, America, and Canada, but there’s nothing like sharing the magic of panto with the people who’ve supported me from the very beginning. This is my chance to give back to my hometown and celebrate the joy of Christmas with family audiences here.” 

Richie will lead a cast that includes Danny O’Carroll as the uproarious 'Dame Mother Hen', Evan O’Hanlon as 'Jack', Sharon Clancy as the villainous 'Baroness Felicia', and Holly Ryan as the enchanting 'Magical Fairy'. 

The production will also feature 45 talented young performers from local youth theatre groups.

With a mix of comedy, song, dance, and festive magic, Richie Hayes saod he hopes to enchant audiences with his signature blend of warmth, humour, and theatrical flair.

'Jack and the Beanstalk' runs at the SETU Arena from December 17 to 30, with matinee and evening performances.
