International line-up of films to be screened in Waterford festival Brendan Keane This year’s Waterford International Film Festival is shaping up to be one of the best ever with submissions being made from over 22 different countries to-date.

The regular deadline for submission to the festival is now only days away with the event itself due to take place from November 22 to 29, in a hybrid format.

The interest in the festival from abroad highlights the broad international appeal the event now has through its commitment to diverse storytelling.

There are already notable entries from Ireland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, and beyond.

Among the festival highlights will be its diverse competition categories including; Best Short Film, Best Short Screenplay, Best Cinematic Image (Photography), Best International Short Film, Best Short Animation, Best Short Documentary, Best Student or Debut Short Film, Best Music Video, Best Trailer, and Best Movie Poster.

This year’s festival will also welcome as a guest judge, Waterford born, award-winning actor Moe Dunford, who is known for his roles in ‘Vikings’, ‘The Dry’, and ‘Black 47’. His extensive experience in the industry will provide invaluable insight during the award selection process.

This year’s festival will also be available to access through both in-person events at the House of Waterford and online screenings through the festival website.

One of the main aims of the festival is to support independent filmmakers, screenwriters and photographers.

It provides a platform for emerging and established talent, the festival fosters creativity and connection within the industry.
