Michael Burke will make a welcome return to his native County Waterford for a gig on on May 1

Music lovers are in for a real treat in the coming weeks when one of Waterford's foremost musicians will make a welcome return to his native county for a gig The View, upstairs at the Vic in Tramore.

A familiar name to local music lovers, Michael Burke is best known for his rich vocals and guitar work, but these days he's more often found performing on international stages - from the legendary Queen Mary 2 ocean liner to prestigious jazz big bands in New York and Zurich.

Now, for one special night, May 1, he returns home to join forces with three of the region’s finest musicians, Cillian Browne on keys, Keith McDonald on bass and Michael Black on drums.

The gig, which is being promoted by Pilgrimage Presents, promises to be a highlight of the year.

"Together, they serve up a soulful, funky blend of originals and classic covers spanning soul, blues, and jazz," said a spokesperson for Pilgrimage Presents.

"All delivered with a dynamic jam band energy that promises to make this an unforgettable evening," he added.

Those attending can expect to hear tight grooves, soaring solos, and that electric live feel that only seasoned pros can deliver.

So don’t miss your chance to catch this rare local gig from one of Tramore’s most talented exports. Advance tickets are priced €10.
