Artist Anne McDonnell will be launching her latest exhibition at Waterford's Gallery of Modern Art, Lombard Street in Waterford city, this month.
Waterford-based, Limerick-born visual artist, Anne McDonnell, has specialised in printmaking for over 20 years.
Discussing her upcoming work at GOMA, she said: “As we navigate the highs and lows through various relationships throughout our lives from first encounters to lasting bonds, mother, friend, self.
“These pieces strive to make these emotions and connections tangible through mark making in an effort to understand and record them.”
Anne adds that through printmaking, she explores themes of tension, conflict and self-doubt.
"Through printmaking, I am working on plates in an intuitive manner, painting bitumen directly onto plates, each plate a compilation of marks striving to evoke these emotions. I am curious about the way we encounter each other, how can care turn to control, and the fine lines between love and lust.
“Many of the pieces are layered, representing us where we are, where we came from, the people we connect with."
The official launch takes place at GOMA on Saturday, November 30 at 6pm.
