Friends of The River Suir to celebrate Summer Solstice

Friends of The River Suir have announced an evening of music, song, dance, and poetry in celebration of the Summer Solstice.
Since prehistory, the Summer Solstice has been seen as a significant time of year, being marked by rituals and gatherings.
The group will welcome the longest day of the year with a vibrant and diverse lineup of local performers.

We aim to promote environmental stewardship, cultural activities, and community engagement through various events and initiatives, fostering a deeper connection between residents and their natural surroundings.
The upcoming event will feature live music from local musicians playing a variety of genres, alongside traditional and contemporary song and dance performance.
Local poets will also share their works in poetry readings which celebrate the river and the season.
For the kids, free face painting will be available, adding a fun and festive element to the celebration.
Friends of The River Suir are proud to organise this event with the generous support of Waterford Credit Union and Waterford Council. Their contributions have been invaluable in bringing this community celebration to life.
This free event, open to all, will take place on June 21, at 6pm, at The William Vincent Wallace Plaza.
