Award winning poet coming to Waterford this week

Katie Donovan
Katie Donovan is the featured poet for SpeakEasy’s Culture Night event on September 20.
Katie is from Camolin, in Co Wexford, and has published six collections of poetry with Bloodaxe Books, the most recent of which, 'May Swim', appeared in May of this year.
It reached the bestseller list in Hodges Figgis the week after it was launched. Katie received the Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award for Irish Poetry in 2017.
Her fifth collection, 'Off Duty', was shortlisted for the Irish Times/Poetry Now Prize.
SpeakEasy’s featured musician will be Fergal O’Connor from Ardmore. Fergal is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and composer.
He has composed music for RTÉ, TG4 and numerous films, and has released an album of original songs called 'Light Breaks Through'. He is a leading music and drum circle facilitator with 25 years of experience.
Local writers are encouraged to take part in the open mic session, which forms a centrepiece of the SpeakEasy events.
The free event takes place on Friday, September 20, at 7.30pm, and for one night only in a new venue, the Book Bar at the Book Centre in Waterford City.
