Waterford FC have parted ways with manager Jon Daly and his assistant Richard Foster after suffering an eighth defeat in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division against Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium.

Daly, who took over the role as team manager at the start of the season, failed to win a single game during his 13 games in charge, and his last came as Graham Burke scored the winner for the champions.

In his post-match after Friday's defeat, Daly seemed to take aim at a number of players for the loss, and his job became untenable after this latest defeat as the Blues sit on the bottom of the table with five points.

They entertain Dundalk at the RSC on Monday evening where they'll be led by Brian Murphy and David Breen, who remain at the club.

In a Saturday morning statement, the club said: Waterford FC can confirm Head Coach Jon Daly and Assistant Coach Richard Foster have left the club with immediate effect.

"We would like to thank Jon and Richard for their efforts whilst at the club and wish them well for the future.

"First-team coaches Brian Murphy and David Breen will take control of the side for Monday’s game against Dundalk at the RSC."
