Waterford FC are going in search of their third manager this season after the announcement that John Coleman and Danny Ventre have left the club following Friday’s loss against Shelbourne.

After replacing Keith Long back in May, the managerial duo only managed to record four wins in 18 games, but a loss of six games in a row including a cup exit to Cork City spelt the end for both.

The Blues are fighting relegation and currently sit in the relegation playoff spot with four games remaining. They face Drogheda United at the RSC on Friday where it would be likely that the Fleetwood group could turn to Matt Lawlor as interim until the end of the season.

In a statement on Sunday morning, the club said: “Waterford FC can confirm Head Coach John Coleman and Assistant Coach Danny Ventre have left the club with immediate effect.

“We would like to thank John and Danny for their efforts whilst as the club and wish them well for the future.

“The club will be making no further comment and will issue a further update in due course.
