Tycor AFC celebrate their 75th anniversary in great style

On February 15, Tycor Football Club celebrated 75 years as part of the Waterford Junior League with a night of celebration at Greenway Manor Hotel where over 160 people were in attendance on the night.
Former Tycor players, present players, committee members and supporters were present for this historic event including Paul Cooke, the President of the FA along with Guest of Honour Alfie Hale.

In his address, Paul Cooke said: “The Tycor family and the many volunteers that are vital to the success of this wonderful club.
“It is fantastic to see how the new generation of Tycor players showing so much respect to the older generation of former players and to see both sets old and new gel together shows that the future of the club is in good hands I thank you for the invitation to this fantastic evening.” Alfie Hale, the former Waterford FC and International footballer, who spoke of his family connections with Tycor.
“My brothers Geroge and Harry played for this club in the late 50’s. The Hale family always had a soft spot for Tycor and I am delighted that my wife Ciss and myself are here tonight to take part in the 75 year celebrations of one of Waterford best known clubs’.
The Awards Ceremony began with Alfie Hale presenting The Quarter Century Legend Award from 1950 - 1975 to Mickey Croke (RIP), the Croke Family came forward to accept the trophy.
Paul Elliott then presented The Quarter Century Legend Award from 1975 - 2000 to former goalkeeper Mick Phelan.
Johnny Curran, former Tycor manager presented The Quarter Century Legend Award from 2000 - 2025 to present club captain David Griffin.
The Family Recognition Awards presented by Alfie Hale went to the O’Driscoll Family and The Jacob Family for their life long support of Tycor AFC.
Former Tycor AFC chairman John O’Driscoll then inducted Frank ‘Dasher’ Bolger into the club’s ‘Hall Of Fame’ with a magnificent award.

John also presented Michael Robinson and Adam Sutton with similar award’s for their outstanding contribution to Tycor AFC. Johnny ‘Gum’ Kennedy and Johnny Curran were presented with beautiful plaque’s for their outstanding service and loyalty to the football club.
Premier Player Of The Year was presented by manager Niall O’Toole to Glenn Hawe with the First Division Player Of The Year presented by Dave Kennedy went to Colin Cassidy. The Premier Player’s Player Of The Year went to Charlie Power and the First Division Player’s Player Of The Year went to Dylan Dickson.
The Premier Leading goalscorer award was won by Jack Power and the First Division leading goalscorer was won by Alex Walsh.
The last presentation of the evening was made to Annie Croke, who missed the event due to illness, Ciss Hale, wife of guest of honour Alfie Hale.
Tycor AFC would like to thank Paul Elliott, who was master of ceremonies. The music and entertainment was supplied by Dave Lofts and Albatross. The club would like to thank Greenway Manor staff for the wonderful food and their excellent service.
