Waterford FC Head Coach Jon Daly has added the signature of versatile winger Jorgen Voilas to his squad ahead of the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division that will get underway at home to Shelbourne on Friday, February 6.
The 27-year-old becomes Jon Daly’s latest signing of the transfer window, after a successful trial period with the Blues, where he appeared in pre-season games against Bray Wanderers and Cobh Ramblers.
Voilas started his career with Norwegian side SK Djerv 1919 in 2018 until 2020, with a short spell at fellow Norwegian club Vard in between, before his decision to give the League of Ireland a try.
He has also played for Notodden, Bryne and Egersund in the Norwegian second and third divisions, before spending last season with Swedish outfit Umea FC, ahead of his move to the RSC.
The versatile winger has over 160 senior club appearances to his name in his eight-year career to date, as he prepares for life with the Blues in the 2026 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division this season.
Speaking on his move to the RSC, Voilas said: “It’s a pleasure to be here. This is such an amazing opportunity, and I am looking forward to it. Hopefully, with hard work and determination, we as a team will be able to bring a lot of great moments for everybody with a blue heart. Let’s get to work.”
Blues Head Coach Jon Daly added: “We’re really pleased to get Jørgen into the club. He’s made a very strong impression during his time training with us. He’s shown qualities that I believe are essential to succeed in the League of Ireland — aggression, an excellent work ethic, playing the game with real intent and a hunger to succeed. I’ve no doubt the fans will take to him, because he leaves everything out on the pitch.”
After their thrilling win over Riverstown in the last round of the Grandons Munster Senior Cup, Waterford FC will return to action in the same competition when they face First Division side Cobh Ramblers in the last eight.
The Blues will most likely play an Under 20 side like the previous round with a number of first team players set to feature. The game will take place at workLAB Connors Park Astro - the home of Villa FC, on this Saturday evening, January 31, with a 5.30pm kick-off.
The final pre-season game for the Blues will take place on this Friday evening, January 30, when they take on Premier Division side Bohemians, with the game scheduled to kick-off at 6pm, at the RSC. For further ticket details see www.waterfordfc.ie
