Hallgrimmson and O'Shea name first squad since takeover

Waterford’s Jayson Molumby has been named in the first Republic of Ireland senioe squad picked by Head Coach Heimir Hallgrímsson and his assistant John O’Shea as the West Brom Albion man continues to impress after his return from injury.
The Cappoquin native missed a period of the season through injury that saw him miss out on selection for O’Shea’s last two squads, but he has named in a 23-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against England and Greece.
Molumby, who hasn’t been included in an Irish squad since November 2023, nursed a foot-injury that saw him miss out on the games n March and June, but he can now look forward to trying to stake a claim for his country once again.
Ireland are set to welcome England to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, September 7, with kick-off at 5pm, before facing Greece at home on Tuesday, September 10, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
There is a first-call up for Leicester City winger Kasey McAteer who has completed his paperwork and received international clearance from FIFA whilst there was a further boost for the new management team as Seamus Coleman and Evan Ferguson have also been included.
The latter returns after missing games against Hungary and Portugal through injury with Callum Robinson, Alan Browne. Chiedozie Ogbene and Nathan Collins, who were ruled out of the Hungary and Portugal matches through injury, also returning to the squad.
