Waterford FC have parted ways with goalkeeper Sam Sargeant after 18 months at the RSC. The netminder took to social media to confirm that he’ll be seeking a new challenge for the 2025 season after a successful spell at the club.
Commenting on his time at the club, Sargent said: “After 18 months of been a Blue, it’s time for me to move on. I’ve loved every moment of playing in front of you for this club and I can’t thank you all enough for making me feel so welcome.
“Being a part of the team that helped get this club back where it belongs last season is a night I will remember for the rest of my life and I feel privileged to have shared those celebrations with you all.” He added: “A special thank you to the Gaffer, Murph, Dirk, every staff member and player who I had the pleasure of working with during my time here. You made my time at the club a positive one and I’ve made lifelong fiends along the way.
“This club gave me the opportunity to improve and the platform to show what I can do on the pitch and I’ll always be grateful for that and the trust shown in me. I’m proud of my time here and Waterford will always have a special place in my heart.
“I wish nothing but the best for the club and everyone surrounding it. Thank you for everything.”
