37 awards handed out at Centenary celebration night

The victorious Waterford Oscar Traynor team and officials were presented with their medals on Saturday night.
The Tower Hotel in Waterford city was the venue on Saturday evening for the Waterford and District Junior League Centenary awards presentation that saw 37 awards handed out with players and club officials honoured.
Former Republic of Ireland manager John O’Shea was also a guest of the league on the evening where the Ferrybank native was presented with a specially commissioned piece by local man John Hayes for his contribution to football in Waterford.
With the league celebrating their 100th year this year, the decision of the league management committee to recognise the top goalscorers in each division, the player of the year in each division, the Oscar Traynor and Inter League Youth player of the years amongst other special awards, went down a treat.
Many of the clubs across the city and county were represented on the night in an event that was put together by Ger Murphy, Barbara Scannell, and hosted by yours truly with assistance from league chairman Damien Tiernan.
Four special recognition awards for their services to football in the local league were presented to Ballinroad’s Vincent Tobin, Ballyduff’s Paddy Kirk, Ferrybank’s Mick Lynch, and Hibernian stalwart Brian O’Keeffe.

Mark O’Keeffe, Luke Walsh, Conor Kilgannon and Craig Dunphy were honoured for representing the league on the Munster FA team that won the Regions cup National final. Villa’s Luke Walsh was named the Oscar Traynor player of the year with many of the players from the winning squad present on the night to receive their medals while Ben Hennessy won the Inter League Youth player of the year.
