Henry de Bromhead is assembling a strong team for this year’s Cheltenham Festival, with The Big Westerner, Workahead, Monty’s Star, and Envoi Allen all holding nice chances.
Before Prestbury Park gets underway in March, the County Waterford trainer has a few interesting horses running this weekend across Navan and Punchestown.

1.35 - Magic Day
4.20 - Shantreusse
Henry de Bromhead has just two runners on Saturday, but he could feasibly walk away with two winners if luck is on his side. Magic Day has failed to win his first two maiden hurdles so far, but she was sent off a short price to oblige at Thurles in December before finishing second. The ground would have been quick enough for him that day, and his debut run for the yard behind Qualimita and Cast A Spell is working out well. His other runner, Shantreusse, has contested many high-profile handicap chases in recent years without landing a blow. The handicapper has been fairly unrelenting with his handicap mark, but this is a winnable race.
1.20 - Sommesky
2.25 - Aspire Tower
3.30 - Nas Na Riogh, Santreusse
With Shantreusse declared for Saturday, Nas Na Riogh could be an interesting runner in the €45,000 two-mile five-and-a-half-furlong handicap chase. He finished second to Dancing City in a Navan maiden hurdle last season before winning two hurdles races in April and May. This season, he’s run three times over fences to get a handicap mark of 122 which could undersell his ability. Of the rest, Aspire Tower could line up in the two-mile two-and-a-half-furlong hurdle worth €17,000. A clash against Sir Gerhard, Spread Boss Ted, Meet And Greet, and Kilcruit will be tough, but Aspire Tower won nicely over this distance at Punchestown in October. He could go well.
