Burnley's 3-1 defeat at Fulham edges them closer to relegation.

Leeds can move closer to guaranteed safety if they beat European hopefuls Brentford tonight, with an 8pm kick off.

Here at home, Sligo Rovers will be out to move off 9th place in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland tonight.

They welcome Shelbourne to the Showgrounds for a 7:45 start.

Meanwhile, there is one game in the First Division later.

Longford Town welcome Wexford with kick off there at 7:30pm.

The action continues in round two of the Women's National League this afternoon.

Champions Athlone Town are playing their first match since manager John Sullivan quit his role.

Meanwhile, it is goalless between Treaty United and Waterford.

Earlier, Peamount United beat Shamrock Rovers 2-0 in the opening game of the day.

Also underway is the game between Wexford and Shelbourne.

It is also into the second half of the game between Galway and Sligo.

Earlier, Bohemians and Treaty United both recorded 3-0 wins over Cork City and Waterford respectively.

GAA

There's still plenty of play for in the final round of the league phase in Division 1A of the National Hurling League.

Limerick and Cork are in the driving seats to reach the league final ahead of meetings with Galway and Offaly later.

The Treaty know a draw against the Tribesmen will be enough to see them through while Galway can still sneak in with a win.

Defending champions Cork are at home to already relegated Offaly with a great chance to get to back to back finals.

Kilkenny and Tipperary are playing for pride with the neighbours both safe from relegation.

All those games throw in at 7pm.

Before that, Dublin are looking to return to the top table with a victory over Carlow in Division 1B.

In the second half in that game, it is Dublin who lead 18 points to 2-9.

Elsewhere in that Division, Wexford are 1-10 to 7 points up on Kildare while Down have a 2-11 to 1-9 lead over Antrim.

In the LIDL Ladies Football League, Cork can confirm their place in the final with a win against Meath this evening.

The Rebels have a slight advantage at the break, leading 1-5 to 7 points.

Galway will progress if they defeat Dublin in Tuam and lead that game 3-5 to 6 points.

Waterford are in trouble, they trail Kildare 1-8 to 4 points at halftime.

Champions Kerry are also in action, they are 1-6 to 1-2 down to relegation-threatened Armagh.

Athletics

Ireland have two runners in the final of this evening's 3 thousand metres at the World Indoor Athletics Championships.

Nick Griggs and Andrew Coscoran will take to the start line later.

Elsewhere, Lauren Roy is the country's sole representative in the Women's 60 metres semi finals.

She goes in the third heat after 7pm.

Rugby

Munster suffered a big loss on the road in the URC today.

Clayton McMillan's side fell to a 45-0 defeat in South Africa away at the Sharks.

Leinster are in Scotland for their game with Glasgow Warriors this evening.

JJ Kenny has crossed over to give the visitors a 5-0 lead early on.
