Letter to the Editor: Property balance

Please consider that houses outside Dunmore East and Woodstown do exist and are a great option for your readers who are struggling to purchase.

Dear Editor,

Can you please provide a more balanced spread of current homes for sale in your property section, in terms of budget?

Over the last two years, the paper has consistently featured properties that are at or above 500k and many properties, which are worth more than a million.

Given how dire the housing market is and how many people are priced out of affording their own home, it is jarring to say the least to see such a comprehensive level of coverage from your talented journalists on all aspects of housing right now, including social housing exclusions, bidding wars, redevelopment opportunities etc., only to find listings for houses, which are well beyond the capacity of many of your readers.

There are many very decent houses for sale in and around Waterford city from €175k up to €250k and are a mix of terraced, cottages, bungalows and semi-detached houses, but I rarely, if ever, see these featured on your paper.

If you want to be more inclusive as a media outlet please consider that houses outside Dunmore East and Woodstown do exist and are a great option for your readers who are struggling to purchase.

Thank you,

Michael Dunphy,

Hillview,

Waterford.
