Postmaster Sean Martin, at Tramore Post Office, was over the moon to receive the call from the National Lottery.

“We are thrilled with today’s announcement to have sold the winning Lotto Jackpot ticket; this is by far the biggest win we have had! We wish the very best for the winner and hope it brings them every happiness and success in the future. It’s a well-deserved lift for the community here in Tramore."

Darragh O’Dwyer, National Lottery Spokesperson said: "We’re now urging all players who bought their Lotto tickets from Tramore Post Office on Wednesday, April 9, to carefully check their tickets – you could be sitting on a fortune of over €4 million and not even know it yet!"

We asked locals in Waterford this week how they would spend the winnings.

Christy Gallagher said: “I’d give a few pound to the family. That's all I'd want to do is just look after the family. Health-wise I’m good, so I actually don’t think I’d really need it in my own life.”

Others said they’d move abroad, with one local saying Australia is their dream destination, whilst another said the south of France.

Val Stokes said: “I think I’d buy somewhere nice in Spain and take life a little easier.”

Some said they would invest the winnings, such as Sam Fitzgerald and Dylan Paul who both said they would buy some property: “I’d buy a few houses here to rent them out and invest straight away into property."
