There was great excitement in one County Waterford school recently when it played host to a successful local author as part of a Writers in Schools initiative.

Author, Aislinn O'Loughlin, visited St Declan's Community College on Thursday, December 11, to lead a creative writing workshop with the school's Third Year JCSP students.

The visit was part of the WIS initiative.

A spokesperson for the school said Aislinn shared insights into her career before guiding students in creating their own characters as a starting point for their stories.

"The students left feeling inspired and eager to continue writing," said the spokesperson.

"We’re very grateful for Aislinn’s visit and hope to welcome her back again soon," she added.
