Works on target for South East Greenway from Waterford to New Ross

Works on Lot 5A of the South East Greenway are on target
Works along the Lot 5A stretch of the South East Greenway are 'on target' to be completed by the end of 2024.
At the Piltown Municipal meeting, Director of Services for Kilkenny County Council Ian Gardner provided the updates for the assembled councillors.
Last November, Glas Civil Engineering Ltd. commenced works on the 5.5km section from Ferrybank to Curraghmore and Mr Gardner said: "Over the past few weeks there was a big push to carryout pavement surfacing works with this work, including the tie-in at Drumdowney and the level crossing at Rathpatrick, now complete. While the installation of the edge stone is also 90% complete."
Fencing works along the greenway continues and the installation of the timber screen fencing along Lot 2, in Ferrybank, is nearing completion. Works are also nearing completion at all agricultural crossings.
Public lighting and a safety fence are being installed in the permanent greenway carpark at Ballyverneen, Glenmore.
According to Kilkenny County Council: "Once both of these work items are completed a road safety audit will be undertaken prior to the full opening of the 39-bay carpark.
Mr Gardner said: "The programme remains on track for the works contract to be completed by the end of the year, thereafter, this section of greenway will be subject to a safety audit and minor finishing works to facilitate its opening to the public in Q1 2025.
