Well-known Waterford city florist remembered

The late Richie Grant.
The death has occurred of well-known local florist, Richard Grant, who passed away peacefully in University Hospital Waterford.
Richard (Richie) Grant, late of Ballycarnane, Tramore, Co. Waterford, and Butlerstown, Waterford, is founder of the popular Grants Florists, on Keane's Road, Waterford City.
The cherished family business is now being carried on by his son Raymond.
Throughout the years, Richie’s floral creations brightened every corner of Waterford, and made their way into the homes of delighted customers from far and wide.
His tenderness and pride, whether greeting a customer with a thoughtful arrangement or sat around the bridge table, will be greatly missed.
Richie was also a keen cyclist with the Blazing Saddles Group, pedaling many a mile throughout his years.
Richie passed away peacefully in University Hospital Waterford surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 7.
He is predeceased by his eight older siblings.
Richie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Ann, his loving and much-loved children, Raymond, Carmel, Laura, Deirdre and his adoring grandchildren, Leah, Evan, Adam, Sean, Anna, Tom, Theo, Hugh and Martha.
He will be fondly remembered by all his nieces and nephews, extended family, relatives, wonderful neighbours, and many friends.
The Grant family thanked with great appreciation all the staff of the Oak Ward in University Hospital Waterford for the exceptional care Richie received throughout his illness.
A celebration of Richie's life took place in Falconers Funeral Home, Riverstown, Tramore, on Saturday, August 9.
