Well-known Waterford business to close its doors

Finders Keepers in Waterford City has announced it's to close
A well-known and respected Waterford business has announced it's to close its doors after almost seven years in operation.
Finders Keepers, located on Michael Street, in the city, stocked unique gifts and homewares.
In an online post on its social media page the store owner, Lisa Connolly, admitted to having her energy "zapped" by the ongoing challenge of keeping the business going.
Comparing running a business to 'running an ultra-marathon', Lisa said that was someone who embraces endurance sports the nature of running a business like hers suited her.
However, she commented: "This year, I have learned the finishing line I had been waiting to cross just isn't coming and I'm so drained I can't keep running."
"After almost seven years we have decided to close 'Finders Keepers'," she wrote on her online post.
"Running a highly seasonal business with fixed costs was always challenging [and] we have done our best to adapt and change to meet all challenges faced over the years," she said.
"But honestly, the challenges just keep on coming and I'm tired; I need to make the change now before I lose my spark completely."
Lisa said there is potential with the online aspect of the business, however, her passion was always with regard to the physical experience.
"I did consider upskilling in digital marketing to grow that side of our business, but I love the bricks and mortar shopping experience," she said.
However, the lease on the building won't end until September so the closure of the business won't physically take place until then.
"Hopefully we will get to see you all over the coming weeks," said Lisa in her post.
"There won't be a big closing sale," she added.
"We will continue to trade as we are and hopefully have some busy days ahead to help us honour our commitments to our wonderful suppliers."
She also acknowledged the help and support she received from her sister and colleague, Beth, who she noted had "kept the show on the road when I stepped back".
"This is so hard for Beth too, and yet she has continued working like a pro," said Lisa.
"Beth I bloody love you; you're going to go on and do amazing things and I can't wait to hang out with you again, just as sisters," she added.
Reflecting on the store's journey, Lisa noted: "Like every good story, their is an exciting beginning, a griping middle, and a happy ending. We love the community that we have built through Finders Keepers and are so grateful for each and every connection made. I'm brimming with pride with what we achieved. I do think we made our mark."
